Making Amyl Nitrate
"I've got hemophilia b 23% factor 9 deficiency. In 1981, age two (now 35) via transfusion of factor 9 hep c anti. Can amyl nitrate be prescribed 4this?
Not that I'm aware: Amyl nitrate, not to be confused with amyl nitrite which is used medicinally to relax blood vessels (and also recreationally as "poppers") is most likely toxic to humans. While it's used as reagent in industrial chemical synthesis and as an additive to diesel fuel, I can find no evidence for its use in medicine for Hemophilia, hepatitis C or other disorders.
Good question: There has been considerable human epidemiological data pertaining to the consumption of (nitrite-containing) cured meats and hot dogs during pregnancy and the risk for childhood brain cancer. The associations of maternal consumption of cured meat with risk of childhood brain tumors were quite consistent across studies, particularly for hot dog consumption.
Very Dangerous: Nitrate medications (nitroglycerin, isosorbide, dilatrate, isordil) for treatment of high blood pressure and/or chest pain make it unsafe to take tadalfil or any other pde5i medication (viagra, cialis, levitra, (vardenafil) staxyn). If you have even a possible need to use a nitrate medication, you should not have or take these drugs. The result can be a catastrophic drop in blood pressure that can be fatal.
Tests: This test is used to measure the metabolism of nitrogen containing substances in the urine by bacteria which may be causing infection. It is generally a worthless test with numerous false positive values and some false negative values. Tests, taken by themselves, out of the context of clinical signs and symptoms, seldom are of any value and can be confusing.
Can't move bowls for 8-9 days at a time. What could this be? Last time I had to drink the nitrate stuff in order to go I have no urges.
Constipation: 8-9 days without bm and urge, is abnormal. The intestinal muscles with nerves seem to be not functioning. There are many causes. Your doctor needs good dietary, personal, surgical, medical, psychiatric & accidental history the work up for ms, cancer, ibs, parkinson's, hypothyroidism has to be done. Please see gastroenterologist who will sort out these things. Go to er to get relief first.
Recent tests show high nitrates. What does this mean and what should I change in my boyfriends diet?
Depends: If you are prescribed them for angina pectoris (cardiac chest pain) by a doctor who knows your history, and you use them correctly, they are quite safe, although they can cause headache, low blood pressure, fainting and other problems. If you are using it "recreationally, " esp for sex, that is a whole other ballgame, and it is NOT safe. Heavy use can result in methemoglobinemia which can be lethal
UTI: Bacteria in urine may convert the non-ionic endogenous nitrates enzymatically to nitrites and when detected may suggest presence of uti. The most commonly detected bacteria responsible for this are gram-negative bacilli, but other organisms may also do this. Because of the large numbers of false negative and positive findings this is not a particularly effective diagnostic test.
Nitrates or nitrites: Nitrates can be normal in urine and often the result of protein metabolism. Nitrites can indicate infection. Without more information, in terms of other urine or laboratory markers, symptoms, etc. That is about all one can say with regard to this. If you are having symptoms or other issues you may want to see doctor for more help.
