Magnesium For Sleep Dosage
YES!: Magnesium is an essential nutrient and we need it every day. It is safe ; non-toxic. If you take too much (esp. A poorly absorbed form) it can cause loose stools. The only potential hazard is in those with kidney failure, who are at risk of toxicity. Otherwise it is perfectly safe to take every day. See http://bit. Ly/1dpai09. ...Read more
Is 800 mg.'s daily of magnesium dangerous for a 50 yr old healthy male? He takes no meds. He takes the magnesium to aide sleep.
I've tried taking magnesium to relax and improve sleep and it stimulates me! Others have complained of this too, why?
Who told u it would?: Who told you magnesium would relax you & improve your sleep? Have you been (sigh) listening to the high-school dropout who works at the health-food store again? Mg is everywhere in you. It participates in almost everything. You think you can take Mg and with it magically push just the better-sleep button in your brain? That's hopelessly simplistic thinking. Our bodies are not 4-cylinder Chevys. ...Read more
Can I take 10mg melatonin and use magnesium oil for sleep? I should be okay because they're both natural, right?
Might help: Give these a try to see if they can help your insomnia. They have no side effects and should not be a problem. These are both refined products and are not quite natural any more than white sugar is "not" natural. The definitions of natural are very nebulous and undefined so beware of depending too much on this labeling. Poison ivy is certainly natural, but that does not mean it is not toxic. ...Read more
Ok, its a fact that magnesium is used to calm the nervous system which in turn helps sleeping. So why does it stimulate me?
Mental Health: All medications that affect the brain can cause paradoxical effects in some humans. There dis no answer as to 'why'. This just is in some humans and they do not or should not be using the medications if they have a paradoxical or unexpected reaction. ...Read more
Hi. I take pexola 0, 25mg tablets at night for rls, I find if I don't take them at least 3hrs before, I don't sleep at all. I also take magnesium?
How does magnesium supplements help with better sleep? What's the science of it? And what are the other benifets?
Treats deficiency: I'm not sure magnesium will help someone sleep if they have sufficient magnesium, but only 32% of americans get adequate magnesium in their diets. Magnesium deficiency is widespread not only due to lack in diet but alcohol. Stress ; many drugs cause magnesium depletion. Low magnesium causes insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, muscle spasms, high blood pressure, headaches etc. See http://bit. Ly/1dpai09. ...Read more

Why is it when I take magnesium with my calcium at night I don't get that relaxation effect they say everyone should? I practice good sleep hygine.
Sleep: I do not think the calcium is effecting the magnesium. You should not expose yourself to light from devices for a couple of hours before going to sleep (ie. Computer screen, cell phone, IPAD screen, television). No stimulants after 12 non (ie caffeine). Avoid alcohol within two hours of bedtime. Eat dinner at a couple of hours before bedtime. ...Read more

Constipation: Magnesium Glycinate, which also helps with insomnia. You can start with 200 mg twice daily and titrate up. You know you are getting too much when your stools get too soft. I'm a waitress and suffer a lot of leg and back aches. Could magnesium as a supplement help that and also help sleep and bowel habits? How much?
If, like most people, you are deficient in magnesium then it is likely to help muscle aches, insomnia and constipation; if you aren't deficient it won't help but also won't hurt; it's safe to try as it is not easy to test for deficiency. I advise 400 mg of magnesium taurate or glycinate. You can also try epsom salt baths. See http://bit. Ly/1dpai09
also eat more magnesium-rich foods (esp. Greens). ...Read more

What is the proper dosage of magnesium I should take for constipation? Female, 21 years old, about 140 pounds.
Depends on type:
There are many types of Magnesium. Magnesiums that are poorly absorbed, like Mag oxide, help by acting as a laxative. But magnesium deficiency can also cause constipation and well-absorbed forms like mag taurate and glycinate help. I advise trying 400 mg/day of well-absorbed forms, and you can increase dose if that does not help. High doses are safe. See http://tinyurl. Com/m7oovm4
