Is it safe to ingest magnesium sulfate (epsom salt)?

Is it safe to ingest magnesium sulfate (epsom salt)?

Depends on dose: Too much will cause diarrhea, and Magnesium Sulfate by mouth tastes bitter.
1 tablespoon of epsom salts dissolved in 6-8 oz water is a laxative dose, and it tastes quite horrible, but it is as safe as taking any other form of magnesium.
There are better ways to replete magnesium.

What is the diference between Magnesium Ascorbate and Sodium Ascorbate? Which one is better?

What is the diference between Magnesium Ascorbate and Sodium Ascorbate? Which one is better?

Ingredients: These are primarily intended for slightly different conditions so it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. One is not 'better' than the other. Ask your provider or read about the concern you have. MA can be helpful for digestion issues. Some say SA can help cell function to improve concerns like malignancy. Neither in moderation is likely to be dangerous. ...Read more

Is Sodium Ascorbate the sane as Ascorbic Acid? What's the difference? Is it safe to megadose?

Is Sodium Ascorbate the sane as Ascorbic Acid? What's the difference? Is it safe to megadose?

Not exactly the same: Sodium ascorbate is one of the mineral salts contained in ascorbic acid/vitamin C. It does not seem to be more bioavailable (available for use by the body) than other forms of vitamin C supplementation. There is also the down side that it contains sodium. I would discourage you from considering megadosing anything, including vitamin C. Stay well:) ...Read more

Do calc ascorbate 150mg, niacin 40mg, biotin 600mcg, magnesium 225mg, potassium 6mg, zinc 15mg, manganese, inositol, and PABA 10mg good when I'm TTC?

Do calc ascorbate 150mg, niacin 40mg, biotin 600mcg, magnesium 225mg, potassium 6mg, zinc 15mg, manganese, inositol, and PABA 10mg good when I'm TTC?

Unknown. Go natural.: Unless there are specific deficiencies in a woman, going natural is safest. It is not known what happens when a woman takes various drugs or chemicals, nor what is actually in various tablets or potions sold in stores or online. Eating a natural, balanced, healthy diet is safest (one can choose Organic foods if one feels Organic is safer). One can take a trusted brand of a daily prenatal vitamin. ...Read more

Is ascorbic acid a synthetic form of vitamin c? What is more effective calcium ascorbate or sodium ascorbate?

Is ascorbic acid a synthetic form of vitamin c? What is more effective calcium ascorbate or sodium ascorbate?

Not necessarily;same: All vitamins go by 2 names, their letter name & chemical name. Ascorbic acid is the chemical name of vit c, as pyridoxine is the chemical name of b6 etc. Ascorbic acid refers to both natural & synthetic forms. Almost all vit c supps are synthetic & most derived from corn which is likely gmo. I favor c from non-corn sources like cassava root.Calcium & sodium ascorbate are equally effective. Can I take vitamin C pills (always made of sodium/potassium bicarbonate, (sodium bicarbonate) ascorbate, benzoate...) w. pulmonary hypertension requiring low sodium diet?

Can I take vitamin C pills (always made of sodium/potassium bicarbonate, (sodium bicarbonate) ascorbate, benzoate...) w. pulmonary hypertension requiring low sodium diet?

Yes, however...: I strongly advise you take Vitamin C, ideally 1000 mg 2-3x/day, but you should try to find forms without sodium. I don't know what's available in Denmark, but in the US you can find ascorbic acid, or calcium or magnesium ascorbate without sodium. Lypo-spheric Vit. C is esp. Well-absorbed, but has 120 mg of sodium, but a low sodium diet usually allows 2000mg/day. Vit. C is best with bioflavonoids. ...Read more

My lab report shows high sodium level & low magnesium level. What should I do to normalize it?

My lab report shows high sodium level & low magnesium level. What should I do to normalize it?

Need actual results: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Your levels may well be in the normal limits. If you are on a normal diet and are drinking enough water, that should take care of these minerals. If you have any symptoms, you need to consult your doctor. ...Read more

So I should stop docusate sodium, and start magnezium 250mg, aren't both of them laxatives. And how long I should stay with magnesium?

Both help BM's: By increasing the water content of stool, making it softer and easier to pass. There should not be used longer than a few days without being under the care of a physician.Magnesium might be a little stronger. ...Read more

What's the difference from magnesium elemental from magnesium Glycinate/lysinate chelated, sodium bicarbonate, and magnesium oxide?

Diff. Absorption and: Magnesium always occurs as a salt in combination with other things such as chloride, oxide, glycine, citrate, taurine etc.
Some forms are poorly absorbed; for example magnesium oxide is only 4% absorbed, so it does not raise magnesium much but is a good laxative. The best-absorbed are glycinate and taurate and those amino have benefits. See

Safe to take lorazepam w/ nature made magnesium supplement (mag ox, cellulose gel, croscarmellose sodium, mag stearate, silicon dioxide, stearic acid)?

Safe but not best Mg: It is totally safe but magnesium oxide is a very poorly-absorbed form of magnesium- it may work as a laxative but won't raise your magnesium levels! You would be far better off taking magnesium glycinate, taurate or citrate!

Sodium: 142, Potassium 3.7, Magnesium 2.5, C02 34 (High), Chloride 105. are these normal? Can these levels cause an episode of V-tach??

Sodium: 142, Potassium 3.7, Magnesium 2.5, C02 34 (High), Chloride 105. are these normal? Can these levels cause an episode of V-tach??

Mostly normal. Lung?: The electrolytes look mostly normal. The CO2 (actually bicarbonate) level is slightly high, which may be "just you" (no significance), or may be related to some developing lung or kidney problems. In any case, I wouldn't look to the electrolytes as being the cause of VTach. The problem probably lies elsewhere (lung is possible, as is heart disease). Eating too much __________ can cause damage to the liver. Is it. Potassium B. sodium C. vitamin B D. magnesium?

Eating too much __________ can cause damage to the liver. Is it. Potassium B. sodium C. vitamin B D. magnesium?

Liver damage: If you have too much salt in your diet, that excess sodium won't cause liver damage, according to the National Library of Medicine. High dietary intake of Magnesium and Potassium is normalized by renal excretion and will not generally cause problems. High doses (2000 to 3000 mg per day) of niacin (vitamin B3) can also cause nausea, jaundice and elevated liver enzymes mimicking hepatitis. ...Read more

Is it okay to take calcium ascorbate (non-acidic vit. C) if you're acidic and had acid problem?

Yes: I recommend everyone take 500-2000 mg of Vit C twice a day and if you have an acid problem it's wise to take a buffered form like calcium ascorbate. You should not have any difficulty tolerating this.

Can your body the same amount C-vitaming from absorb calcium ascorbate and ascorbic acid? I have problems with my stomach.

Yes: Yes, buffered ascorbate (including calcium, magnesium and sodium ascorbate) is absorbed as well as ascorbic acid.
The best-absorbed form of vitamin C is liposomal Vit. C.
Lyposphreric C, which is sodium ascorbate mixed with phospholipids for enhanced absorption, is a product I often recommend. See
