My husband has a high lymphocyte %, low RBC count, and high mch, what does all this combined mean?

My husband has a high lymphocyte %, low RBC count, and high mch, what does all this combined mean?

Insufficient info: Your husband may be anemic and needs further evaluation for the cause. A high mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration has little meaning absent a full picture of all other parameters measurable. The high % of lymphocytes, again, in and by itself, has little impact on establishment of a diagnosis. Labs are of little value absent good history, physical exam and a thoughtful knowledgeable doctor. ...Read more

12 yr old lymphocytes low 20 & neutrophils high 74 & absolute neutrophils high 8.4 I'm worried ?

Hard to say: These numbers don't mean anything special, particularly when quoted without the other values on the white count and or without a history and exam. ...Read more

Childs lab showed a high % lymphocytes, low % neutrophils but absolute values for both were normal. No blasts/atypicals, all else in perfect range.

Childs lab showed a high % lymphocytes, low % neutrophils but absolute values for both were normal. No blasts/atypicals, all else in perfect range.

Absolute counts: Are the most important when evaluating blood count results. It is always important to evaluate labs in the context of patient complaints and symptoms. If they are normal range, and there are no blasts or abnormal cells, then most likely nothing to worry about. These may be the child's normal range or a mild virus. ...Read more

My neutrophils is high..lymphocytes low. WBC is elevated. What do these results mean?

My neutrophils is high..lymphocytes low. WBC is elevated. What do these results mean?

Depends: Not enough information to answer definitively. Elevated neutrophils (neutrophilia) can be from a variety of causes including infection (especially bacterial), inflammation (eg rheumatoid arthritis, etc), or steroids (demarginate neutrophils from tissue to blood). ...Read more

My blood test shows: fraction immature reticylocytes high .19, RBC low 3.82, MCV high 382, MCH high 34.3, lymphocyte low 24%. What could be wrong?

My blood test shows: fraction immature reticylocytes high .19, RBC low 3.82, MCV high 382, MCH high 34.3, lymphocyte low 24%. What could be wrong?

B12/folate deficient: You need to be checked out for vitamin B12 or Folic Acid deficiency. I wonder why the doctor who ordered the blood test did not recommend getting these tests done. If these values were normal, then further studies will be required. ...Read more

I am suffering from high temperature, headache & body pains.haematology test says:netrophil high(86%),lymphocyte low(8%), with "no malarial parasite"?

You have infection: but at the moment no evidence of malaria. However, it may take several tests to find this parasite. Ask the person who ordered the test whether to do it again and to check you for other types of infection. Good luck! ...Read more

Good morning, I have a low white cell count (lymphocytes low at 35%) a borderline CRP and high plasma viscosity of 1.84. What could be causing this?

Good morning,

I have a low white cell count (lymphocytes low at 35%) a borderline CRP and high plasma viscosity of 1.84. What could be causing this?

Probably nothing: Percentages mean nothing on the white count. If your absolute neutrophil and absolute lymphcyte counts are anywhere near reference range, stop worrying. The ranges are set so that several percent of healthies fall outside on either end, and the values fluctuate chaotically from hour to hour. I'd ignore the other values if you feel reasonably well, and look at history & physical if seeking illness. ...Read more

Blood results off my co2 was low, my neutophil% was high, & lymphocyte% low. I'm on meds for thyroid & depression. What is cause & how do I fix?

Blood results off my co2 was low, my neutophil% was high, & lymphocyte% low. I'm on meds for thyroid & depression. What is cause & how do I fix?

Need more info: It would be useful to have the actual values. All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and your doctor is in the best position to do that and you discuss the matter with her/him. ...Read more

Neutrophil % high at 76.2% along w/ high neut. Absolute at 7.0, lymphocyte % low at 16.5% -- all other bloodwork (cbc) normal. What could this be?

Neutrophil % high at 76.2% along w/ high neut. Absolute at 7.0, lymphocyte % low at 16.5% -- all other bloodwork (cbc) normal. What could this be?

Likely nothing to ..: Worry about if you are otherwise feeling well. Your total WBC count, based on the data you provide, is within the normal range. The modest left shift (ie., relative increased neutrophil %) could indicate an effort to address a mild bacterial infection. But more likely it's just normal variation. I do wonder what prompted the check to begin with? Additional details? ...Read more
