CTshows Spleen 17cm ,small Axillary Lymph nodes, retroperitoneal lymph nodes& mesentric lymph node noted, normal blood count &bone marrow,no infection?

Many possibilities: The combination of enlarged spleen and internal lymph nodes could be any of several infections (mononucleosis, syphilis, HIV, and several others, of course depeding on risk); inflammatory conditions like sarcoidosis; various malignancies like lymphoma and others. The doctor(s) who have been evaluating this problem and requested the CT scan are the only ones who can answer accurately. Good luck. ...Read more

Stony hard lymph node above the left clavicle - growing (4 CM now). Night sweats, fevers, etc. Abs lymph count 1.3(WBC 4.61). Normal sed rate. Cancer?

Need evaluation: This can be the sign of a malignancy so do not sit back and follow this. I would see an internist and you will likely need a surgical biopsy for diagnoses . If malignant you will require an oncologist. This is a serious situation and you must see a physican ...Read more

Can you help interpret u/s of cervical nodes? "None appear pathologically enlarged.Short axis is 3mm in all nodes. impression:Bil reactive size nodes"

Pretty normal: 3mm is not very large, you can get lymph nodes from inflammation like from a cold but at 3mm they aren't even that enlarged. Certainly does not seem like cancer which would be 5 to 10 times larger. ...Read more

Mildlynprominent retroperitoneal lymph nodes largest measuring 1.8 by 1.1 centimeters to the left renal vein does this sound like cancer?

Mildlynprominent retroperitoneal lymph nodes largest measuring 1.8 by 1.1 centimeters to the left renal vein does this sound like cancer?

Prominent nodes: These findings are borderline and nonspecific. In the absence of other pathology, enlarged lymph nodes in other areas of the body or enlargement of liver or spleen, this may be insignificant. I feel your physician should review the study with the radiologist and describe any symptoms you might have and obtain recommendations for any other studies or specialty referrals advised by the radiologist ...Read more

That lymph nodes take out cancer cell from the body, so would an enlarged lymph node be examined for abnormal cells?

That lymph nodes take out cancer cell from the body, so would an enlarged lymph node be examined for abnormal cells?

Yes: To make it simple, you can think of a lymph node as a recycle bin that filters infections and abnormal cells including cancer and non cancer aged or abnorml looking cells. Examining an abnormally enlarged lymph node can tell you a lot of information about the underlying cause including detection of infections or cancer cells. ...Read more

What does progressive transformation of germinal centers mean - in relation to his axillary lymph node biopsy.

What does progressive transformation of germinal centers mean - in relation to his axillary lymph node biopsy.

A reaction pattern: Ptgc is a benign pattern of exaggerated response in some enlarged lymph nodes (chronic lymphadenopathy). There is weak association with hodgkin's disease . Although ptgc is not considered a premalignant lesion in this latter case, your doctor may follow you and possibly biopsy/remove any enlarged lymph nodes in the future (if any) for a similar examination. ...Read more

Supraclavicular lymphoadenopathy. Bigger than 2cm really painful with a CBC and whole inmune system labtest normal?

More tests needed: A 2cm supraclavicular lymph node is unusual and, on my opinion, deserves a comprehensive search for cause. Please talk to your doctor about further testing to establish a diagnosis. This lymph node enlargement could represent significant underlying disease. ...Read more

No sign cancer in breast, spread to 2 lymph nodes prominent lymph nodes about 3 inches below armpit,no primary tumour . What is survival rate ?

Same as breast mass: Survival rate of breast cancer metastatic to axillary lymph nodes, but without evident primary tumor is the same as that when a primary tumor is evident. It depends on hormone receptor status, HER2status, age and overall health of patient. Also—since some women are cured of this disease and others aren't—it depends on factors of which medical science is now ignorant. ...Read more

Hard, fixed lymph nodes in neck. U/s stated nodes appeared normal. Can u/s distinguish a hard node from soft node? Can u/s detect nhl?

Neck masses: Other than lymph nodes in neck are commonly thyroid nodules, branchial cleft cysts, lipomas. If you can feel these masses in your neck, have your doctor order a ct or mri. Ultrasound is particularly good at telling whether a mass is solid or cystic, not hard or soft. ...Read more

How to distinguish between spuraclavicular lymph nodes and lymph nodes at base of neck. Are spuraclavicular nodes 1-2 inch above clavicle?

How to distinguish between spuraclavicular lymph nodes and lymph nodes at base of neck. Are spuraclavicular nodes 1-2 inch above clavicle?

By location: Supraclavicular (Not spuraclavicular) nodes are just above the clavicle. If you trace your finger from the base of your neck and right behind the clavicle going outwards towards the shoulder, you will feel a triangular space that ends when the clavicle bends backwards. Any lymph node in that area, will be Supraclavicular. Any lymph node at or above that base of neck is considered neck node. ...Read more

Multiple enlarged axilla lymph nodes (largest is 2cm) normal chest xray.High Wbc. High absolute neutropolis.High lymphocytes. Lymphoma Cancer?

Dont assume cancer: never make assumptions regarding cancer...you are right to be concerned and you should pursue further work-up...this will include a history and complete exam with possible further x-rays....the enlarged nodes could represent infection and not cancer...be prepared for biopsy to make final diagnosis ...Read more
