Most likely not: The lymph nodes are like our drainage system. After a major surgery like that, there is bound to be some inflammation, cell debris that the lymph nodes have to handle. When they do, they typically become enlarged and/or hard/palpable. It should resolve in time, but isn't anything to be "worried" about. It's most likely normal physiology in response to surgery. ...Read more

Swollen lymph nodes: Lumps on your neck are most commonly due to infection/inflammation related to viral or bacterial illness. Depending on your age, smoking status and characteristics of lymph nodes, one should have a heightened suspicion to confirm there is no tumor or even cancer. Older, smokers, with firm lymph nodes that continue to enlarge would need specialist evaluation and biopsy. ...Read more

Enlarged, painless lymph nodes under my ear, jaw and sides of my trachea. Experiencing fatigue, sleepless and hairloss. Blood tests all normal.

Probably need biopsy: Painless enlarged lymph nodes that are multiple should be evaluated further. Blood tests alone are likely not sufficient. It sounds like several of them might be quite accessible. I would recommend being evaluated by an ENT surgeon who can do a biopsy of one of these lymph nodes to look for possible lymphoma or other disorders that involve enlarged lymph nodes ...Read more

Symptoms: Most specific symptom is swelling of lymph node under left ear. This could be from ear infection: either middle or external canal infection or some type of infection in your head or neck area. These symptoms are unlikely due to your foot infection and given the focal nature of the symptoms I do not think they are from a drug reaction. Probably need to get checked. ...Read more

I have a lymph node under my ear for about a year now that swells up and down all the time but never goes away what could this be?

Get checked: The lymph nodes enlarge when there is an immune response and in your case from another infection. Sometimes scarring occurs leaving the node enlargement permanent. In your case however , it may be a response to a smothering infection which waxes and wanes. Talk to your doctor.. ...Read more

Would it be unhealthy to have the lymph node under my ear hurts when im eating?

Would it be unhealthy to have the lymph node under my ear hurts when im eating?

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more
