I did a neck ultrasound and on the report is show: "largest lymph node 1.4 cm", impression: "lymph nodes normal size". How can it be normal size?
The size: Of the lymph node is not the only factor in deciding whether a lymph node is abnormal. The shape of the lymph node, the vascularity, and the cortex thickness are all important in helping to determine whether it is abnormal. That said, a 1.4cm (long axis diameter) neck lymph node would be considered within normal range assuming the other features are also normal. ...Read more

I've swollen lymph nodes & normal blood work. My Dr. Sent for a CT Scan w/contrast. I'd prefer without. Would a neck CT scan be effective w/o contrast?
Depends: It depends what they are looking for exactly. If your only problem is swollen lymph nodes and symptoms are short term - you may be able to do without it at all. If they are hard, very hard or if there are other symptoms you might want to get it done. CT gives radiation and contrast may pose some threat to kidneys but consider the risk vs. The benefit of finding out what the problem is. ...Read more

Could swollen lymph nodes with normal CBC in neck be from wisdome tooth extraction 10months ago? Had bad infection & hole in sinuses at the time
Not likely: Even if it took longer to heal (hole in sinus and infection), it is not likely that you would have a persistent swollen lymph node, assuming that it eventually did in fact heal. This is especially true if you have not experienced any other symptoms since then (over the 10 months). This doesn't rule out having a swollen lymph node from another separate dental infection. Have you had a recent cold? ...Read more

What did your doctor tell you about your swollen lymph nodes? You may watch and wait. You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor.

45 yr old male for physical. Dr just listened to heart and lungs, script for blood wk. Did not look in eyes, ears, feel lymph nodes. Is this normal?
Unfortunately: Most doctors no longer have the time alloted to them to do a proper physical. Though many doctors believe that looking at these parts of the body is very "low yield" for finding actual disease or pathology, it is necessary to give the doctor the best chance of spotting something unusual at a later time, and to be familiar with the patient's body. It also makes the patient feels "cared for". ...Read more
Chances lymphoma with no noticeable enlarged lymph nodes? CBC, CMP normal. CT normal- mildly enlarged spleen 13cm
Very Low chance: It is reassuring that there aren't any enlarged lymph nodes, and you have a normalCBC. If there is a lymphoma, it is a very hard to detect one. And it is not causing any problems to the body. I would leave it alone. Get a check up maybe in 6 months- just labs, ldh and a physical exam or ultrasound for the spleen. Spleen sizes also vary quite a lot, but good to keep an eye on it. ...Read more

They just monitor: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Can skinny people feel almost all their normal lymph nodes in neck groin and armpits? What size is considered unenlarged?
