Lymph Nodes Months
Swollen lymph nodes occur commonly due to infections. If this is the reason they will not grow anymore after infection has resolved. So you do not need to worry about them as long as the node size is not increasing. If they show further enlargement and get
to > 1-1.5cm in size then you need a physician to check them out, just to be sure they are not due to cancer. Caner related nodes will grow in. ...Read more

Confused - in a healthy young adult, are pea-sized neck and supraclavicular lymph nodes for months normal or should they not be palable?
Can't be sure:
A single enlarged node in the neck can have multiple causes and certainly needs to be evaluated by an ENT physician or general surgeon. They may recommend biopsy to determine exactly what the node is. Suggest you have your primary care evaluate first and schedule referral.

Daughter has 1cm lymph node for months. E.N.T wants to wait couple months for biopsy to see if grows. What is likelyhood of lymphoma? I am so stressed
Very low: Lymph nodes can normally be up to 1cm in size especially in the context of frequent infections (being a child). A doc will also use texture, location and tenderness to consider the likelihood of something worrisome, but in an otherwise healthy patient removing a 1cm lymph node without more alarming characteristics would offer little to no potential benefit to offset the harm done by the biopsy. ...Read more

Swollen lymph node for months. Tested -ve for mono, EBV and CMV. Biopsy says "Atypical reactive hyperplasia. Case for immunophenotyping." Meaning?
May help: Atypical reactive hyperplasia suggests that there is some pathologic process in place. Whether a lymphoma is developing remains to be seen. One of the more common viruses seen in the lymphocyte progressing to lymphoma is the MMTV virus. By employing IMMUNOPHENOTYPING one utilizes the technique of identifying molecules that are associated with lymphoma cells and that help to characterize them. The molecules are identified by using special antibodies that bind to them specifically. One is capable of discerning whether the process of lymphoma is in play. ...Read more
