What can I do if my lymph nodes are extremely palpable (for years) I have lost too much weight, what is wrong?
Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" lymph for bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. Persistence mandates evaluation. ...Read more

Swollen nodes: Medically, there is a distinction between "lymph nodes"and "nodule." Where are these swellings or growths? What are those measurements? Mm? cm? Ins? Did you get any kind of study or biopsy done last year? Swollen nodes or nodules must always be investigated, because they sometimes could mean a serious disease. Can you get lymphphdemia. From a maintenance I.v. In your arm where your lymph nodes have been removed after 18 years?
Yes: You should NOT have an IV in an arm that's been adversely affected by excision of lymph nodes in the past. Maybe your doctors or nurses overlooked this fact? What it means is the microstructural architecture of your arm (the lymph channels) are affected and there could be microscopic (or macroscopic) scarring there. Definitely I want that IV out-pick another site ASAP. Arm swelling makes it urgent ...Read more
Just curious, if someone got HIV several years ago, do all lymph nodes swell gradually or all same time? How long do they stay swollen?
Depends on the cause: Lymphadenopathy in an HIV patient must be carefully evaluated. It is true that the HIV virus can cause a lymphadenopathy response in itself. However, HIV can also make you more succeptable to different infections and malignancies (lymphoma and kaposi sarcoma) which can present with lymphadenopathy. It is important to be evaluated by a physician to exclude any of these other causes. ...Read more

My child, now 2 and half years old was bone with lymph nodes in the neck RHS. Is there anything Wrong? The lymph nodes seems mislocated
What is RHS??: Everybody has multiple lymphnodes thorughout the body and are often easily palpated in a child's neck, as well as behind the ear and the lower hairline, as they often enlarge in response to mild URI's or scalp conditions and then remain slightly enlarged for some time. A nodule that is small and easilty moveable is usually benign, but one that continues to enlarge or is tender needs evaluation. ...Read more
I have had enlarged supraclavicular and posterior cervical lymph nodes for 3 years. Since I've had them so long do you think they aren't serious?
It is worrisome: Lymph nodes swell when there is something wrong. It can be something as simple as a sinus infection or as serious as cancer, HIV/AIDS, or syphilis. The only way to decide if is is "serious" is to determine what is causing it. Three years of supraclavicular lymphadenopathy would make me worry about the possibility of lymphoma (a type of blood cancer). See your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more
I was sick 2 years ago so badly all lymph nodes in neck swelled, one is still swollen but not bad at all. Is it calcified. Doesn't hurt, can't see it?
Maybe: Sometimes lymph nodes react to infections and when the infection is over they stay enlarged. If the node is not tender and stable probably nothing to worry about. You would need some type of Xray to tell if it is calcified. Don't think that is worth he trouble. ...Read more
Lymph nodes under my chin have been swollen for a few months, recently started getting diarrhoea, other lymph nodes show under skin but had for years?
Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you and your symptoms warrant evaluation by a physician. Diarrhea is probably unrelated to the nodes. You may watch and wait - You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph gland doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. ...Read more
Not always.: While it is true that lymph nodes that remain stable in size are "more likely than not" to be cancerous, that is not an absolute rule. In fact, many lymphomas may grow very slowly and not demonstrate any appreciable change in size over a few years. My lymph nodes have been swollen for almost 2 years. Every time I go to the doctor for help they just give me medicine and nothing happens. Any ideas?
Yes, lymph node: Enlargement can be caused by infection, inflammation, or malignancy. If it is less than 1cm, it is rarely important. If your blood tests are normal, then I wouldn't worry. If it has not worsened in 2 years, it probably will stay the same. The only way to know for sure is a biopsy, a surgical procedure, and your doctor probably doesn't think its necessary. ...Read more

I suggest U see the: Pcp again as he/she had seen your a year or 2 ago. Lymph nodes are enlarged in young age quite commonly. If all your symptoms are going on for a few years, then I doubt if its serious, but would recommend seeing the pcp, to be investigated. Kidney problems are quite common which can result in swollen ankles. I doubt if its a local cause in the ankles themselves. Labs + urine exam will be helpful. ...Read more
