If you can't feel an obvious large lump by very light pressure, then nothing is wrong -- don't keep trying. Anyway, there are very few illnesses that cause lymph node enlargement as the only symptom. mult possibilities: There are many possible causes of pain in the axilla (armpit). Could be from strenuous activity, leading to muscle strain in the region, or could be from trauma. Sometimes you may not even remember bumping yourself in that region. Additionally, should be from a hair that was cut incorrectly or a pimple or a bump there.
