A lymph node "tastes" the lymph to see if anything bad is there like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and swells in response to the inflammation they create when they react. Can occur quickly. ...Read more

If there is a correlation between my cold and my swollen lymph node, why did it swell a week before my cold started?

If there is a correlation between my cold and my swollen lymph node, why did it swell a week before my cold started?

May not be related: Usually an enlarged node which I presume is in the neck when related to an inflammatory process, follows the clinical symptoms of inflammation in oral structures such as tonsil or other intra oral nodes. Hi, I’m a 17 year old female and around weds/thurs of last week, my lymph node in my groin started to swell and it’s now very painful to the touch.

Not sure: I am not sure why you had a drain at all, if it was a single lymph node..
