Lymph Node Swelling In Neck
Neck MRI showed "several top-normal diam lymph nodes scattered about the left jugulo-digastric chain, most notable at left Level II" as well as lymphadenopathy. This is where my doc felt the supraclavicular "mass", as he called it. Also, I have been havi
Not sure of question: It sounds like your doctor found a "mass" in your neck above your collar bone and recommended an MRI. This confirmed the presence of lymph nodes in the same area, some of which were slightly large, at the upper ("top normal") limit of normal. These could be reactive... responding to some inflammation/infection nearby or neoplastic (tumor). Depending on other symptoms, observation or biopsy is next ...Read more

My grand, Bella was 7 in Jan. For over 6months, she has had multiple lymph node swelling in neck, path showed follicular hyperplasia, what is cause?
Lymph node swelling: Lymph nodes are where the immune cells of the body process all the stimuli from various infectious and other foreign stimuli in our environment. In children these are very active areas as so many things are "new" to them. It is natural for these to swell and then subside. Only persistent enlargement is a cause for concern due to infection that isn't cleared, or neoplasia. ...Read more
Monitoring Centers: The lymphatic system absorbs and carries things too big for the arteries and veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. A lymph node "tastes" lymph to see if anything bad is there like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and enlarges in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They reduce when the problem heals. ...Read more

See a doctor: Hmm. Lymph nodes can swell when your immune system is fighting an infection. They are usually tender when that occurs. A viral infection like "mono" can cause the lymph nodes in the back of your neck to swell. Certain cancers can also cause lymph node swelling. This would not show up on a cbc. A doctor needs to feel your nodes and decide if further tests are needed! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

That's news to me: Since essentially all young adults have a few swollen lymph nodes in the neck, and it's healthy (they're your friends), it would be impossible to investigate this (frankly silly-sounding) claim. If the nodes in your neck flare when your genital herpes lesions do, maybe there's a connection. No big deal. Otherwise, stop worrying and get on with your life and be thankful for good health. ...Read more
