2cm lymph node on top of right carotid artery. Has not grown in 1 year. Is this okay as long as it does not grow or is it cutting off blood flow?

Probably ok: It's not cutting off circulation - your carotid artery is a thick walled, high pressure vessel that's not easily compressed. Lymph nodes in the neck are common and usually benign, but you should be carefully examined for other enlarged nodes in less common locations including on a chest x-ray before writing this 2 cm node off. The fact that it's not enlarging is very good. ...Read more

Artery (Definition)

Arteries are defined as blood vessels which carry blood away from the heart (to either the body or lungs). Arteries: higher pressure, thicker walls, stretch (pulse) with each heart contraction & deliver blood to the arterioles which control the flow to individual capillaries. Veins are blood vessels which carry blood from capillaries back to the heart (body to right heart; ...Read more

Swollen lymph node on top of right CAROITED artery. It measures about 1.5 cm. Doc said its benign. Can this cause complications since its on artery?

Possibly: At node on the neurovascular bundle, that is carotid artery, jugular vein and vagus n. is in essence a jugular vein node which most often represents possible pathology. Frequently pharyngeal and thyroid lesions spread to this node. Without biopsy, if the node is firm a diagnosis cant be made. If an additional node or enlargement occurs then excisional biopsy needede ...Read more

I have external illiac artery at the same level, which could be lymph node metastases versus phlebolith. What does this all mean?

Ask your doctors: The doctor who ordered the X-rays/scans also has to explain the findings to the patient. So you should have asked what it all means. I suspect there is some abnormality which may require follow up X-rays but your doctor is the one to seek guidance from. Right now it is only a suspect, small abnormaility which is ill defined. Perhaps a follow up in 3 to 6 months might clarify the nature of this abn ...Read more

If I have a lymph node or cyst on top of coroided artery right side. Could it cut off the blood flow and cause a blood clot?

Carotid body tumor: You might have a mass near neck artery called the carotid. If this is what your doctor told you, then carotid body tumor/mass is the topic. The mass usually forms just behind the artery, right where it separates into its two branches. You should get referred to a vascular specialist. And yes, there are potential complications, as you list. However, the potential is low with vascular specialist. ...Read more

Lul non small cell hilum region with lymph node involvement on pulmonary artery. Pet scan negative. Please stage.

Need more info: To completely stage, would need more information. However, lymph node involvement excluded stage 0 and stage i.

If lymph nodes are on the same side as the hilar tumor, the tumor is at least 2 cm from the carina (where trachea divides into r and l main bronchi) and the tumor is 5 cm or smaller, it is stage iia. If tumor is 5-7 cm, and the rest true, it is stage iib.

After that, it is complex! ...Read more

had a ct scan done said I have calcified granulomas bilateral hilar and and a subcarnial lymph node prominence pulm artery. Should I be concerned?

Abnormal CT scan: The lymph nodes could be concerning for underlying pulmonary issues??? TB or other types of infections. Why was the CT done?? - I would circle back with whoever ordered the test - The pulm artery finding doesn't seem worrisome. But the lymph node issue needs further investigation ...Read more

I have a hard pulsating knot in my carotid artery my doctor thinks it's a swollen lymph node but I think it's a carotid aneurysm nobody will tak me ER?

Not an aneurysm: It is not an aneurysm. You have an expert opinion. You think at age 17 you know better than the doctor who examined you? Unnecessary care in the ER could cost thousands of dollars. An aneurysm is not hard and it is not experienced as you describe. This thought is an obsession in your mind. It does not make it real because you think so. ...Read more

Are there some effective ways to clear up your carotid arteries?

Are there some effective ways to clear up your carotid arteries?

Surgery or stents: For blockages serious enough to require treatment, there are two options. A carotid endarterectomy is a surgery where the arteries are opened sugically and cleaned out. For some people, stenting is an option. Similar to heart stents, a small tube is inserted like an IV and a small metal coil is released in the area of the blockage, thereby holding the vessel open. ...Read more
