Can someone who had chronic Lyme disease and has been treated for it & still has neurological symptoms, bladder dysfunction & pain possibly have ms?
Multiple sclerosis: Yes. A person with treated lyme disease can develop multiple sclerosis. Having lyme disease does not protect your from having ms nor it increases the risk of having it either. Bladder dysfunction and pain are seen in many conditions and are not specific of multiple sclerosis. The diagnosis of ms may require certain period of observation or perhaps a lumbar puncture. CSF IgG is 2.6, CSF Albumin is 28, CFS IgG/Albumin Ratio is 9%. Could this indicate MS or Lyme Disease if clinically the symptoms fit?
Test results: The IGG Index requires a comparison to the IGG in blood and CSF. It is a nonspecific test for inflammatory diseases like those you referred to. What were the blood levels? A better test for MS is CSF oligoclonal bands. Do you have that? Along with an MRI result? For Lyme disease you would want a CSF ELISA or Western blot for Lyme proteins. 3 small nonspecific lesions. Lyme disease negative. Now being tested for nerve damage and memory loss, all thats left is stroke and ms, limbs tingle?
MS is possible: Assume you have 3 small brain white matter lesions, but your sensory symptoms and memory issues, could well be a sign of ms, or prior strokes. Can sort out by getting MRI of neck and MRI of gray matter using dir techniques, as extra lesion on these films could confirm ms. Maybe spinal fluid would help. Talk with your doctor, should be able to pin down. ...Read more

Is there a link between dissociative identity disorder and acute chronic Lyme disease? Can a person have both & can did be misdiagnosed?
I doubt it: With ulcerative colitis you really need to be having diarrhea with blood in it. Most lyme disease doesn't do this. I think the main connection would be fever and joint pain, which you can see with both. But I would imagine that UC would not commonly be mistaken for lyme disease. ...Read more
