How much is the probability that Zoloft (sertraline) help me if luvox didn't? Generally, how many ssris in average does every patient try to find the effective one?
MTHFR genotyping: If you have had failures, a good start is genomind testing which let's you see if you metabolize drugs that go through the cyp2c19 ; cyp2d6 pathways too fast, too slow, or just right. Also if you are + for an abnormal mthfr genotype, treatment with l-methylfolate, p5p, ; methyl cobalamin can help your antidepressant work better because you will be making your own serotonin, dopamine, ; nor-epi! ...Read more

If Zoloft (sertraline) wasn't effective enough for my OCD on 200mg, nor luvox 200 mg ; what can I try? Would another ssri work?
I don't think so: All the ssris quite similar mechanisms of action so it is doubtful that another one would help. Unfortunately there are no truly effective meds for ocd although sometimes adding a low dose antipsychotic med might help. Specialized psychotherapy is the best way to go [ask if your psychotherapist thinks that he or she can help]. ...Read more
Luvox, Zoloft, (sertraline) and: Lexapro (escitalopram) are all SSRIs. They're all 1st line agents in tx of anxiety and depression. They all work via the same mechanism -- inhibiting re-uptake of serotonin, thus increasing serotonin concentrations. The differences between the meds have to do with subtle differences in half life, serotonin receptors targeted, and slight differences in side effect profiles. Can vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) and luvox have interactions and if so what are they? Also is there an interaction between vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) and zoloft?
Yes. But: Luvox and Zoloft (SSRI meds) can interact with Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) to boost the effects of Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) possibly giving you more side effects such as jitteriness, tremor. But the combination is fairly common, effective and safe with careful medical supervision. I hope this helps. ...Read more

When I haven't taken my Zoloft (sertraline) in 2 + days (rarely happens that I skip) why does it cause me headaches?
Why can't I take oxyelite pro while I'm taking zoloft (sertraline)? I'm in medical field so complicated answer is okay
Unregulated: All supplements are unregulated by fda, so they can put 'pro' and 'awesome' and whatever you want to hear to get excited and spend money, but the fact is there are things they can put that do work, and are dangerous. I see kidney stones, heart, liver and other problems that come from muscle and energy supplements. So with or without zoloft, (sertraline) I wouldn't recommend that stuff. ...Read more
I haven't taken my medication (Zoloft 200mg and Lamictal 200mg) for 2 weeks. Should I take my full dose again or half?
Can't remember for the life of me if I took my Zoloft (sertraline) this morning. I'm on 100 mg. Should I risk double dosing or skip it?
Can count pills: On the bottle it should list the day it was filled and the rate at which you are supposed to take it (once or twice a day). You can then count the number of pills left and decide whether you have taken the right number of pills. Also, one extra or fewer dose of Zoloft (sertraline) is not going to throw you into a toxic state. ...Read more
I asked a question before about which could medications I could take with zoloft (sertraline). I didn't get an answer, and I can't sleep due to this cough.

I didn't take my night dose of Zoloft (sertraline) & strattera! What can happen? I already didn't see benefit on meds. Will this missed dose affect its effectivity?
Not a Problem: Skipping a day in taking these medications will not be a problem. Just take your next scheduled dose. The effectiveness for both drugs will depend on amount of drug and the time it is in the system. Both depend on time to know if they will be effective. Give 4 weeks for both, then ask your doctor if should increase the doses. ...Read more

More OCD treatment: It looks like you're being treated for depression and OCD. I've been on Zoloft (sertraline) for a few yrs. I have noticed weight gain. I want to switch to something that won't make me gain, what works best for my age? 17.
Talk w/psychiatrist: This is something you need to discuss with your own psychiatrist, preferably an adolescent psychiatrist. Some medications have additional risks in young people, and you want to be safe and well. Lexapro (escitalopram) is a reasonable choice in adults, but reviewing your concerns with your own doctor would be better than asking doctors who don't know you (like us on healthtap). Zoloft (sertraline) Klonopin: It would help to know what anxiety disorder you have and how you expect to feel on klonopin. What would happen if I have been taking 200mg of Zoloft (sertraline) and my body doesn't need it just wondering if I would have serotonin symdrome and what symptoms?
Unprescribed?: If you've been taking zoloft (sertraline) & your body doesn't need it, you'd be exposed to potential side effects like GI upset, nausea, diarrhea, etc -- but none of the benefits. Side effects can happen even if your body does need zoloft (sertraline). If on 200mg zoloft (sertraline) and no other conflicting medications or drugs, serotonin syndrome is very unlikely. If taking unprescribed medications, this is another issue. ...Read more

Not advisable: Ativan will commonly cause amnesia. You should not drink in combination with the Ativan, the result can be as you found, but can be more serious including death. 6 months or longer: I'm glad you're feeling better. Zoloft (sertraline) is used to treat depressive and anxiety disorders, so the length of time you will need on it will depend on your diagnosis. Some conditions, like a single major depressive episode, require at least six months to ensure adequate treatment. For some conditions, zoloft (sertraline) is prescribed indefinitely. Careful about alcohol. It will reduce the effectiveness of zoloft (sertraline). ...Read more
Does Zoloft change what you say/remove filters? If you wouldn't make a comment before you were on zoloft, would you make it now bc of the confidence?
Adverse Effects: I have not had patients report this side effect, nor have I read of this type of adverse effect. If anything, patients have reported more clarity in their thinking, which would ideally promote more thoughtful conversation. If you are experiencing less of a verbal filter, I would highly recommend exploring this in therapy. Perhaps the underlying reason (s) will be revealed there. ...Read more
