Diagnosis depends on the length of time your symptoms have been present, if you have a fever or other symptoms to go with the pain. Sometimes, just allergy drainage or acid reflux can result in a sore throat. If your symptoms last more than 7 days, see a physician.

Globus Hystericus: Is the silly name given to this because it is usually described as "like a lump in my throat". It is actually evidence of an irritable nervous system. Visit my blog "oxygen, the spark of life" that you can google.

See your doctor: Problems like these can only be correctly handled by your doctor in person. He/she needs to listen to you, perform an examination and possibly run labs or other tests. That's the only way he/she can find out what's going on and what to do about it.

18, pain on one side of throat, difficulty swallowing on that side, it also feels like dull, but no breathing difficulties?

Throat pain: Usually with tonsillitis or even pharyngitis, both sides of the throat are involved. It could still be either of these problems, but when a sore throat is just on one side of the throat, it really should be looked at to make sure it isn't something more serious like a small collection of pus behind the involved tonsil, known as a peritonsillar abscess, you should have this looked at.

Pharyngeal Exudates: There are many causes of Exudative pharyngitis including viral, strep, mono and more serious and rare causes like diphtheria. Most ENT doctors can easily make the diagnosis. If it is culture negative it may be viral. Candida yeast can cause exudate like white patches on the pharynx in people who are immune compromised or using steroid inhalers for asthma that suppress the immune response.

Over the last few days my throat has felt dry and slightly constricted? I have no difficulty swallowing food though.

Dry throat: Your throat irritation could be due to allergies, viral pharyngitis, or bacterial infection. If the symptoms are mild and not accompanied with a fever most people would wait a few days and see how it progresses. If your condition worsens then you would need to seek medical attention.

Throat sensation: Are you very anxious about something? There is something called "globus hystericus", an example of a conversion reaction in psychiatry wherein a person feels a mass in the throat when objectively nothing is present. Check it out on any of many medical web sites.

Why do I feel like there's food stuck in my throat? Right by the collar bone and it feel difficult to swallow

Dysphagia: There could be many reasons for difficulty swallowing food, or dysphagia, and it usually requires an evaluation to determine the cause and to map out a treatment plan. I would make an appointment to see your doctor. In the meantime, I would consider a short course of omeprazole 20 mg once a day. Do not skip the evaluation, even if the interim medication helps. Good luck.

I have a dry mouth and throat and difficulty swallowing. What could this be from?

Many things: Dry mouth conditions can be caused from a rainbow of issues. You could be taking a medication such as some high blood pressure meds or anti-depressants that can cause dry mouth. That would also lead to a dry throat feeling and difficulty. If your not fitting into any of these catagories consult you md or dds for other causes.
