Lupus Red Palms
Can lupus cause palms of hands and feet to get real red/blushed, sometimes blotchy and sometimes they feel "prickily" when they are red/hot.
Neuropathy: It is possible. However blotchy prickly hands or feet with hot sensation are not specific findings of a particular disease. Other conditions like raynaud phenomenon or autonomic nervous system dysfunction or neuropathy can cause this presentation. Consider checking your sugar and vitamin B12 levels. Please check with your physicians for proper diagnosis and treatment. I hope you feel well soon. ...Read more

Capillary cirulation: The autonomic (automatic) nervous system controls circulation by a "dilate/constrict" balance. This suggests that lower brain controls are unevenly distributed. Can telangiectasia be also a symptoms of lupus not just scleroderma? I have 3 tiny red dots on the back of my hand scared of sclero- I have lupus. I am very pale so maybe its not even telangiectasia?
Highly unlikely.: The amount of telangiectasias in connective tissue disease such as scleroderma is usually significant and is located on more than just a dorsal hand. My outer palms are red. They have been like this since I had my daughter three years ago. There is no itching or pain. My dr did labs for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis which came back fine. I don't smoke or drink.?
Suspect estrogen!: Women typically have appreciably more redness around the periphery of the palms and the finger pads than men. It is an effect of estrogen in the body. The fact that you noticed it after the birth of your child, when during pregancy you had much higher estrogen levels, rather proves the point. It is called palmar erythema. Harmless, unless you are male, if you get my drift! ...Read more
