Lupus Mouth And Nose Sores
Autoantibodies: Autoimmune diseases like lupus result in autoantibodies that attack your own body in error rather than bacterial or viral pathogens which are supposed to be targeted. This form of attack will manifest itself as sores in mucosal tissues including the nose and mouth. The exact mechanism may be an attack on the mechanism that holds the skin to underlying tissues allowing it to peel away creating sores.See 1 more doctor answer

Where do lupus sores typically occur? I have had numerous sores in my mouth on my gums, one on my lip, and one in my nose. Not at same time ANA 1:640
Lupus sores: Ulcerations (sores) can occur on any mucus membrane which is the entire GI tract as well as vaginal tract. The ANA is high would seek medical attention from rheumatologist because may be flare and only proper lupus treatment will resolve the ulcers. Check for concommitant herpes I infection (treat w/ acyclovir), check TSH, Gargling/swishing with salt water 2-3x/day may limit added infection

Dx w/lupus almost 2 years ago. I have a painful sensation on left side of head that get chills on same spot. Any ideas?
Peripheral neuritis: Tori, this may or may not relate to the lupus. Lots of people have little sensitive places on the skin that can at times be painful and at times can tingle or feel like it's getting goosebumps or even go numb. Of course if the pain is very severe or there are other symptoms like visual problems or slurred speech or nausea you should discuss with your doctor. You can try rubbing the spot.
Despite drinking plenty of fluids, head feels foggy & lightheaded for days after being in the sun. I'm being treated for almost lupus. Why does the sun affect my head?
Sun can flare SLE: Although we don't have all of your data, there are people with lupus who are sunshine sensitive. The sunshine can activate systemic lupus erythematosus. The mechanism is not completely clear but disruption to skin, free dna from the cells, that can stimulate the lupus response. Sun protection is an important part to your therapy.See 1 more doctor answer
Anything else I can do when lupus flare makes head feel swollen & I feel confused? Increasing prednisone helps but it is a struggle to work thru this!
My son-in-law has lupus and he gets extreme discomfort in the neck and head. It feels like fluid. Is there any way to relieve that pain?
Who feels fluid?: Do you mean you feel his head and neck and you feel something like fluid and swelling, or he feels like there is fluid inside his head? Lupus can cause a lot of funny symptoms--his doctor can suggest something to help. If he has actual swelling, he needs to be checked.See 1 more doctor answer
My head feels numb alot I have a long history of headaches I have indented in my head I don't know if this has anything to do with my lupus?
No: Lupus does not cause indentation on the skull. Have you considered seeing a neurologist re. Your chronic headaches?
22 y/o f w/ lupus. What could cause a bad headache and series of uncontrolled head jerking episodes? I was in class and didn't know what to do.
I just found out I have lupus, I've been a smoker now im quitting I've had sharp pains in my head that come and go. No high BP tho. Casoconstriction?
Doctor can evaluate: Lupus patients may get infections (because their immune systems are not working properly), and they can get vasculitis (their immune systems cause damage to their blood vessels). That means symptoms such as worrisome headaches need to be evaluated by a doctor, to see if there is something being caused or worsened by the lupus.
I've suffered w/ ophthalmic migraines for years since diagnosed w/ lupus. I had 1 a week ago & I still feel pressure on my head for a week now, why?
Chronic/Acute?: An oft neglected challenge of chronic conditions is the tendency to ignore a new, acute symptom or change. Whenever a change in your expected pattern of chronic symptoms appears, always inform your doctor - even if only for the record. And, it's the way to 'nip in the bud' any new, hopefully transient, thing.
