If someone's heart stops due to damage from a virus attacking the heart, or like lupus can a defibrillator get the heart started again ?

If someone's heart stops due to damage from a virus attacking the heart, or like lupus can a defibrillator get the heart started again ?

Depends on "stop": There is a misunderstanding about when a defibrillator works. Defibrillators work when there is erratic electrical activity in the heart (ventricular arrhythmia). Possible: There is a terrible respiratory illness going around the Milwaukee area but often has responded to the Z pal depending on symptoms. In your case without more history and exam hard to tell if you have a lupus flare but I can tell you in normal people this illness can knock them out for over a week. You would best see a doc!! ?viral: After a week of prodromal like symptoms,I would expect common viral infections to declare themselves with noticeable signs and symptoms like sore throat, cough, rash, diarrhea, etc. Absent such signs and lack of fever, your symptoms are nondiagnostic and treatment would be symptomatic with rest, adequate fluid intake and Tylenol as needed. If symptoms persist or worsen, reconsult your rheumatologis ...Read more

Need more informatio: I would consider three things. The first is everything is a viral illness. The second is everything is a lupus flare. And third yes infections can cause lupus to flare. In science to get an immune response in the lab one thing we do is to use some type of stimulation. Over the years a substance called freunds adjuvant which is developed from infectious protein can stimulate immune reaction better. ...Read more

Muscle aches + lupus: A viral infection could cause a temporary muscle achiness that could be unrelated to lupus. If the muscle pain has resolved, than that is reassuring. If you continue to have muscle pains, than evaluation with blood work to check on the muscle tests would be indicated. ...Read more
