Can lupus directly impact the brain? Myoclonic seizures, major depression, GAD, major mood swings. No official diagnosis, but positive for antibodies.
A few comments: Yes, lupus cerebritis can occur. Spinal fluid measure of P-ribosomal protein might help. Your myoclonic seizures could be Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy, and could benefit from Depakote or Keppra. Your emotional state could be assessed by psychiatry. Yes!: I have many patients with "chemical lupus, " that is mild tests are positive, usually with low-titer ds-dna positive and no clinical disease whatsoever. Do they have sle? This is not a rhetorical question, since my diagnosis will worry the heck out of many, and can be a disability issue. In my opinion, you do not have lupus unless you have clinical disease.
