Lupus And Nail Ridges
I have horizontal ridges on my finger nails and i'm being tested for lupus. Is that a sign of an autoimmune disease?
Probably not.: I've never seen lupus cause horizontal nail ridges, although i suppose it's possible. Certain medications can do it, as can diabetes and certain systemic diseases. If you're not on any medications, your doctor may wish to extend the workup to look for other internal causes, besides lupus. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it safe to take b complex vitamin and a hair skin And nail vitamins with lupus and irregular heart beat?
Yes, perfectly safe: The only vitamins that can be toxic are Vitamins A, D, E and B6. One has to take massive doses of A, D & E to become toxic. One should avoid more than 250 mg a day of B6 but the combined amount in your vits is likely well below that. I advise those with irregular heartbeats to take at 250-400 mg/day of Magnesium Taurate; your vits probably have little magnesium. Hawthorne extract may also help. ...Read more

I would have your nails looked. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Complicated answer: There is no definitive test for lupus. There is the "ana test" which is positive in all patients with lupus, but is also positive in some healthy people. So if you test positive, all this tells me is that you may have lupus, but doesn't nail the diagnosis. I focus more on the symptoms that you have. If there are concerning symptoms, then i get the ANA test. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
