Lupron And Alcohol
Hot Flashes: By far, the most common side effect is hot flashes, because Lupron (leuprolide) causes a temporary menopause. Poor sleep resulting in emotional side effects or head ache are also common. A serious effect from long-term Lupron (leuprolide) is osteoporosis. Many of these side effects are reduced or eliminated with extra "add-back" hormones. Some women have no side effects at all.
Terrible: Lupron (leuprolide) causes reversible menopause. So as soon as the medicine takes effect the estrogen drops to zero same as complete menopause. Hot flashes, night sweats, moods, memory issues and joint pain etc. Many dr. S use this for endometriosis but endo is a surgically treated disease. Lupron (leuprolide) only temporarily diminishes symptoms but makes people miserable. Excisional surgery is needed via laparoscopy!See 2 more doctor answers
Endometriosis. ..: Depo-lupron monthly or 3-month injections are used for women with endometriosis or chronic pelvic pain, men with prostate cancer, and children with puberty too young. It may be used to shrink uterine fibroids before surgery. Depo-lupron is used in fertility treatment to prevent ovulation in frozen embryo transfer cycles & egg donor recipients, and can be used before ivf in women with endometriosis.
Assume Pelvic Pain: ? Diagnosis endometriosis and pain. If Lupron (leuprolide) is not helping, the pain is either coming from very severe endo, or from another source. A common associated pain is from the inguinal region and is often associated with endo. Surgery to correct this relieves pain in more than 80%. There are other potential causes of pain that should be evaluated. Seek pelvic pain/endo specialist for more help.
1 or 3 months: Lupron (leuprolide) comes in 1 or 3 month doses (3.75 or 11.25 mg) and these injections usually cause menopause symptoms which I've seen as both mild or severe. It rarely continues beyond the treatment period & is a good way to pre-treat or reverse endometriosis or to shrink fibroid tumors prior to surgery. Discuss with your doc if your symptoms are severe or if you need estrogen to counter the severe effects.See 1 more doctor answer
Terrible: Hate the drug. It has bad side effects and very few indications in my opinion. If it's given for endometriosis or pain, there are other treatments. The most effective treatment of endo is surgical excision. This can cure the disease but there are few providers capable of this procedure. Recurrent pain after surgery needs to be addressed but Lupron (leuprolide) is not the answer. Ther are a few indication.
Can be: Depending on why you are taking lupron, (leuprolide) it takes a month to suppress your cycle. Did you take the 3 month dose? Why are you taking it? Did you have abnormal bleeding before the injection. Talk with your doctor who ordered it and ask if you have any other issues that need to be addressed.

I'm 22 started lupron (leuprolide) depo. No appetite and craving chocolate. I don't even like chocolate but I suddenly need dark chocolate. Weird?
Possible: Lupron (leuprolide) causes hormonal changes so craving for chocolate is not weird in your case.
I ask about using lupron (leuprolide) depot 11.25 3 month dose yesterday. To be more specific, would u ever use that dose every 28 days on a chlid? Why or why not
Yes: For precocious puberty, that is a normal dose and frequency for a child weight between 25 and 37.5 kg (55-82.5 pounds).
How long till 11.25mg lupron (leuprolide) wears off? I don't feel symptoms from it last shot was sept my husband & I want ttc should we wait? If so, how long ttc?
3 months: The shot lasts 3 months. It can have some effects a little longer. You don't have to wait at all. There is no danger in becoming pregnant but you may not ovulate.
Hormone inhibitor: Lupron (aka leuprolide) inhibits the production of testosterone and estrogen from the testes and ovaries, respectively. It is used in the treatment of a number of things including endometriosis, prostate and breast cancer and inappropriately early puberty in kiddos, each of which is made worse by excessive testosterone or estrogen secretion.See 1 more doctor answer
Menopausal effects: Lupron (leuprolide) injections are used for many reasons in gynecology, most commonly in the treatment of fibroids and endometriosis. Essentially, Lupron (leuprolide) shuts down ovarian function and leads to a menopausal state.
