What are your experiences with prescribing depot lupron (leuprolide)?

What are your experiences with prescribing depot lupron (leuprolide)?

Terrible: Hate the drug. It has bad side effects and very few indications in my opinion. If it's given for endometriosis or pain, there are other treatments. The most effective treatment of endo is surgical excision. This can cure the disease but there are few providers capable of this procedure. Recurrent pain after surgery needs to be addressed but Lupron (leuprolide) is not the answer. Ther are a few indication. ...Read more

What can be used instead of lupron (leuprolide)? Bleeding again. 49. Fibroids. Hgb 7.5. Doc wants to do transfusion. I don't want lupron (leuprolide). Would progesterone work?

What can be used instead of lupron (leuprolide)? Bleeding again. 49. Fibroids. Hgb 7.5. Doc wants to do transfusion. I don't want lupron (leuprolide). Would progesterone work?

No.: In your case, i suspect the reason your doctor is using Depo-Provera Lupron (leuprolide) is to reduce the size of your fibroids. This is often done to make a hysterectomy technically easier. Progesterone wouldn't have the same effect. I sometimes use higher dose oral contraceptives to stop a single bleeding episode, but this is not a long term solution. I agree with transfusion and at least consideration of a hyst. ...Read more

Does green coffee extract really work? I started taking some after gaining 10 lbs in one month after taking depot lupron (leuprolide)

Weight gain on Lupro: Unfortunately a commonly seen side effect of Lupron (leuprolide) is weight gain (mimics menopause). I doubt that green coffee extract will help you lose weight, but it won't hurt. You have to increase your excersize daily, and reduce food intake while on the medication. It will take some time to lose weigh once you stop lupron (leuprolide). ...Read more

Is it safe to be receiving lupron (leuprolide) depot shots for 11 years?

Depo-Lupron: It is incredibly unusual for a doctor to recommend treatment with depo-lupron for 11 years. This medication is not considered a long-term treatment of any gynecological condition. It's normally used for 6-12 months at a time to control endometriosis, shrink fibroids ; a few other situations. The main concern is poor bone health. Although other complications are possible from early menopause. ...Read more

How to reduce hot flash side effect of lupron (leuprolide)?

How to reduce hot flash side effect of lupron (leuprolide)?

Consider neurontin (gabapentin): It was not specifically studied for hot flashes with lupron, (leuprolide) however, neurontin, in a study this year, worked as well as estrogen for hot flashes. Ssri antidepressants have been used for hot flashes but have never been shown to work as well as hormones. Neurontin has been used for some time with hot flashes but a head to head study showing it is as good as hormonal treatment is impressive. ...Read more

What are the side effects of lupron (leuprolide)?

What are the side effects of lupron (leuprolide)?

Terrible: Lupron (leuprolide) causes reversible menopause. So as soon as the medicine takes effect the estrogen drops to zero same as complete menopause. Hot flashes, night sweats, moods, memory issues and joint pain etc. Many dr.S use this for endometriosis but endo is a surgically treated disease. Lupron (leuprolide) only temporarily diminishes symptoms but makes people miserable. Excisional surgery is needed via laparoscopy! ...Read more
