Confusion????: A thyroid ultrasound doesn't show anything on the lungs. Only a chest xray or ct scan shows the lungs. Can take weeks: I am sorry to hear about the bronchitis. This excess phlegm is just the after effects of the inflammatory process and can take a couple (sometime 3-4 weeks) weeks to resolve. You could try guaifenesin 300 mg by mouth and you can take this every 4 hours if needed. This will help break up the mucus/phlegm. Just make sure you are not pregnant while taking this. Rales: Crackles when breathing, assuming they are coming from your lungs, can be related to fluid in the tiny alveoli and bronchioles. This can be from many things including changes in surfactin. If your doc has already ordered a high-resolution ct, wait for the results. ...Read more
