Lunch Meat Serving Size
Are potassium and sodium nitrate in processed meats carcinogenic? How often is it recommended you eat these preservatives and serving size?
Not Healthy food: Processed meats are not healthy food. It is to be avoided. So should Red meat be aavoided as these foods increase the risk for Cancer. You can eat plant based foods (fruits and vegies), Pasta and grains and Poultry meats. Fish is the best alternative. You can supplement this with Soy products like Tofu and Eggs. You can also use Plant Nuts as a good source of Proteins (in place of meats).
Age matters: The short answer is yes. But there are 2 factors to keep in mind; 1-lunch meat may not be the healthiest food as it contains nitrates, salts and other ingredients. 2-watch out for choking, meats, nuts, hard candies, grapes, and other foods are notorious for causing little ones to choke--even if they have teeth. Typically meats are introduced around 9-10 months of age.
I would like to know if I should be worried about eating a small clear pice of plastic as I did not see it around the lunch meat.
If small: It will "pass" out without a problem (I am assuming "soft" plastic which is the kind most luncheon meats are packaged with! Hope this helps! Dr Z
Can I eat lunch meat since im pregnant I've been eating it and haven't had any problems but some people are saying its bad
There: There are a lot of things to avoid when pregnant, and other things you specifically should take, like prenatal vitamins. Lunch meats are not in either category, though some people suggest that you avoid tuna because of a concern for elevated levels of mercury in tuna meat.
Is it ok if I have a light salad for lunch and lean meat with beans/veggies dinner? Dinner is heavier because I jog at night? This ok? 18 male
Yes: As long as your 24 hour dietary intake is balanced and meets your nutritional requirements, you can adjust the content of meals to meet the needs of your workouts.
I ate a sandwich it was a cold cut but heated I'm 38weeks and I ate lunch meat is my baby okay? Why can't we eat lunch meat while pregnant? I'm worried
Probably;listeriosis: If the cold cuts were heated until they were "steaming hot" you have no reason to worry. Unheated lunch meats MAY contain listeria, a bacteria that causes listeriosis, an infection that pregnant women are more susceptible to. But know that most lunch meat does not have listeria, so you're probably OK if not well-heated but don't risk again: http://www. Newkidscenter. Com/Deli-Meat-While-Pregnant. Htm
NOT SAFE unless...: Most lunch meats contain nitrites, a chemical that crosses the placenta & increases a baby's risk of brain tumors! See http://www. Livestrong. Com/article/344031-sodium-nitrite-pregnancy/ & http://www. Ncbi. Nlm. Nih. Gov/pubmed/8824361 you may find nitrite-free lunch meats but I strongly advise eating only organic meats when pregnant: http://www. Ncbhttp://drrandybaker. Com/2013/04/22/organic-food-diet/.
Limit size and fat: Most studies indicate that red meat consumption is not good for the health, and possibly adding even just one serving a day can increase the long term risk of death. However, most nutritionists recommend focusing on sensible portion sizes and lean red meat cuts, for those who choose to eat it. Substitute fish, chicken and turkey, nuts and beans as alternative protein sources.See 1 more doctor answer
She should avoid: All smoked/salted meats during pregnancy. She should also avoid Klonopin, (clonazepam) as the baby can be born with a benzo addiction, which is very hard to come off...I would also recommend testing and treatment for MTHFR 677 & 1298 genotypes. Treatment is L-methylfolate, P5P, and methylcobalamin--all natural. Could explain Mom's anxiety and help!
Not likely.: The main concern with lunch meat is infection with listeria, a bacteria which can cause miscarriage. It can cause miscarriage but if you are fine at this point you do not have to do anything. This infection is quite rare! I just recommend avoiding deli meats for the remainder of your pregnancy.See 1 more doctor answer
I am 11weeks + 6 days pregnant and just ate a 3" turkey lunch meat sandwich, without thinking. Should I be worried?
No: Unless there is something else in the sandwich, which you didn't mention there should be no ill effects.
Can I eat cold lunch meat while pregnant friends r tellin me that I'm not suppose to that if I want lunch meat I have to warm it up!? Is this true?
Old wives tale: If it is safe to eat before pregnancy it is generally safe ti eat during pregnancy. This applies to cold lunch meat.
Is a largely fruit only diet unheathly? A diet that consists of largely fruit for breakfast and lunch and then a modest dinner that is not fruit based but typically with meat and vegies.
Hello.: Hello. Fruits have a high sugar content. Adding in healthy fat and protein would help to prevent spikes in blood sugar (hypogylcemic index). The different types of food would need to be eaten together to get these benefits. Because of sugar content, want to lean more heavily on vegetables instead of just fruits for first two meals. I would not call the diet you are describing as unhealthy, but it is unbalanced and may be lacking in nutrients. Take care.
5 months pregnant and ate lunch meat two days in a row should I be worried about getting listeria?
Probably not: Unless there is a recall of the brand you ate you are probably fine. In the future avoid soft, unpasteurized cheeses such as Brie and Camembert and if you still want to eat lunch meat and are worried, heat it. Heat kills Listeria. In the meantime if you have any symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, or fever, see your doctor, early treatment will protect your baby. Http://www. Foodsafety. Marilyn monroe, is said to have eaten egg, milk, maybe yogert for breakfast, meat & vegetables for lunch & dinner fruit& little exercise is this good.
Low starch diet: I don't know if that is true but you are describing a low-starch diet, and that is generally healthy. These days I would make sure that the egg, milk, yogurt and meat are organic or else they will come from animals fed gmo foods and have hormones. My favorite overall diet is dr. Furhman's: http://www. Drfuhrman. Com/library/foodpyramid. Aspx see http://drrandybaker. Com/2013/04/22/organic-food-diet/.
I'm trying to lose weight but I fried up 3 pieces of smoked ham lunch meat with my eggs I heard the sodium makes you gain water weight?
Use salt in modera: Your diet sounds good to me! Eating high protein, high fat diet will keep you healthy and slim. Please add some fruits, vegis, spices and herbes- peppers and others (they all help the metabolism, digestion, act as antioxidants, …). Also try to eat organic meets and vegis as much as possible.
