Lump under left armpit, firm and moveable although feels attached. Had it since I was around 13 and is painless but if I keep touching it gets painful?

It could be...: If it has been there for so many years possibilities are: lipoma( fat benign mass), lymph node that has stayed enlarged, sebaceous cyst just to mention a few common ones. All these are not malignant. However you should get it checked in order to have a final diagnosis and if it needs removal. See your doctor for follow up on this. ...Read more

You are right: Cancer commonly is a painless bump/lump. But some tumors can be tender. Armpit is prone to get infection in the hair follicles which can produce a red, tender painful lump but it usually settles down in one to two weeks. Breast cancer, of course can spread to the lymph nodes of the armpit and produce a firm, painless lump there. That is what you need to be sure about. ...Read more

Not likely for you: Your age argues against this being a cancer. It is suspicious for some kind of infection or inflammatory problem. Consider seeing a surgeon or dermatologist to discuss the possibility of hidradenitis. ...Read more

Abcess.: Sounds like you have a small abcess. Pain may be relieved by incision although it is by no means necessary. May use hot compresses several times a day until this "points" and ruptures on its own. The fact that pain is bad indicates that may be soon. It is remotely possible that this is a lymph node that has been very stimulated. Same treatment. See someone if not improving. ...Read more

Breast tissue/glnd : In that location the most common lump would be an enlarged lymph gland. One rare possibility would be stray breast tissue. If you draw a semicircle from the armpit thru the nl breast location along the mid belly to the groin on the same side, you have the line where accessory nipples(usually duds) may be found.
