Access vs lymph node: If it is red and hot, then it may be an abscess or infection. It could also be a lymph node. If you have any head cold symptoms, this could just be a reactive lymph node, which is the body's way of gathering white blood cells to fight the infection. Possibly lymph node?: Have lymph nodes throughout our bodies to protect us. Some are near surface of skin and you can feel. If you've had an ear infection recently or possibly scratched your scalp nearby the node could have started to swell as it pumped out lymphocytes. It could b a: lymph node from a prior infection that didn't shrink back down to normal.If u carefully search,U may find a few others. To be safe,show ur doc at next visit.If it grows or changes,or U find multiple lumps,make an appointment.A lot of manipulation may make it tender. ...Read more

Probably not cancer: If the neck lump has changed little in one year and is still just over 1 cm, it is probably just a benign(non-malignant) lymph node or a small cyst or lipoma. However, you should have it examined by a medical profession for their opinion. ...Read more

Im going to get it checked out on tuesday but being that i have this painless moveable lump on my left side of neck for months now can it be cancer?

Not likely: Swollen lymph nodes around the jaw may be due to an infection in the teeth or mouth. Since enlarged lymph nodes are often near the source of infection, their location can help determine the cause. Treat the condition that may have caused the lymph node enlargement. Maybe a lipoma: You may have what is called a lipoma. This is a fancy name for a little bundle of fat under the skin. Lipomas are totally benign. However, you should go see your dermatologist to get an exact diagnosis. I'm not happy that you describe it as "no movement". Just get it checked to be sure. ...Read more

Can this be a cancer: Cancer can indeed grow and metastasize. Size alone or softness/hardness , headaches are not good enough to definitive diagnose cancer. A biopsy and or scans are helpful tests. ...Read more
