Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, and physical examination, however, it does not appear to be a serious issue and you may wait to consult your doctor next time you see her/him. If the "lump" doubles in size, bleeds or ulcerates, see a doctor immediately.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

MY ACHIN' HEAD: It sounds like you may have an inflamed lymph node, called a "Reactive" lymph node. We have many lymph nodes in our scalp, including in the vicinity of our ears. They can be quite painful but they are a sign of a healthy immune system. They tend to go away after several days, and can be treated with anti-inflammatory medications and warm compresses. If they persist, follow up with your doctor. ...Read more

The vast majority are not cancer but simply unusual growths like fatty tumors, cysts, skin tags, moles, etc. Most cause no symptoms and can be watched.
