What are the chances of getting teeth extracted and a palatal expander?

Expanded

Head-teeth
I assume you are talking about yourself and not a child, so, in order to have room for tooth movement orthodontists many times recommend extracting some teeth to make the room. Cross bites on back teeth can be corrected by expanding the arch in children as the midline is still cartilage, adults require surgery to separate the bone for the expansion. Hope this helps.

What to expect once palatal expander is removed??

Nothing much

Cleaning
You might feel some "dents" in the tissue of your palate, but that goes away in a day or two. You will find it much easier to clean your teeth after eating. You might feel individual upper teeth re-adjusting themselves now that they are free of the bands.

Could chord overstreet (sam evans) on glee during season 2 have a lip/mouth disorder?

Doubt

Juviderm
Not that I know of. I think he probably is just endowed with genetically full lips. Some people 'enhance' their lips with various fillers. Look at Lisa Rinna for example.

When will it feel ok to eat with palatal expander?

Experience varies

Adjustment to a palatal expander varies from patient to patient, depending upon a number of factors including patient age, attitude toward treatment, parental/patient support, and severity of the problem. In our own practice, patients appear to adapt and eat normally within 24 -48 hours following appliance placement. Some patients have adapted immediately.

I believe i had class 1 malocclusion on my mandibular. Will rapid palatal expander help me?

Different problems

Orthodontist
Class I refers to the front-to-back teeth and jaw relationship. If your lower jaw (mandible) is Class I, it relates well to your upper jaw in the sagittal (front-to-back) plane. A Rapid Palatal Expander is used to correct transverse (side-to-side) malrelationship by widening the upper jaw. Upper jaw widening in an adult requires the help of an Oral Surgeon and an Orthodontist working together.

Can crowded canine teeth be fixed with a palatal expander?

That Depends

Teeth
Palatal expanders are used when the upper jaw is small compared to the lower jaw. By encouraging growth of the upper jaw they can correct this discrepancy and create more room for the canines. If the two jaws already match in size but the canines are still crowded, then no, a palatal expander will not help. Your orthodontist should be able to guide you further.

Dr. David Gisborne answered:

4 weeks ago I got my palatal expander put on. In the past few days, I've started to grind my teeth at night. Why is this?

No More Status Quo

Nocturnal
The muscles that control your bite have been interrupted by placing the teeth in a new position. You are trying to grind down the new interferences to get back to the original position. To help during the transition a temporary night or day guard can be used so you can grind on the appliance and not damage the teeth or cause muscle pain. This is a normal reaction to a new position.
