Tendon tear.: The MRI will help with isolating the problem, but in the meantime, it might be prudent to avoid using the foot in the same manner you are accustomed to. Is it possible? Yes: Does it sound like it? Not really. First off that's not really a joint area and gout usually affects joints. It is odd: That nothing would show on the mri! was the MRI performed with and without contrast. Soft tissues are usually very well defined on an mri. Any type of mass or even swelling would normally show on the study. ...Read more

Go see the doctor...: The achilles tendon may have been injury and the bump may be noting the area. Have it checked because the injury may have occurred days, weeks, months before and the "bump" may be scar tissue that has developed. If unchecked, there is a risk of rupture.
