Trigger points?: Muscles can develop tender spots called trigger points or "knots". It occurs frequently in tired and overworked muscles. They get better with massage and rest. If this is a lump that does not go away with massage or lasts more than a few days it should be evaluated by a physician.
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Woke up today with a stiff neck from below ear downwards, feel unwell and lump on sternocleidomastoid muscle. My neck really tender hurts to touch?
Get checked out: A lump on your sternocleidomastoid could be a lymph node. In that case, you might have an infection or inflammation. There are many causes of stiff neck, but in the setting of swollen lymph nodes, I would be sure to be checked out. Meningitis can cause stiff neck, for example, and you don't want to miss that diagnosis. I would see a doc asap.
Large hard lump in middle of my back, directly in the center, between shoulder blades. No pain where lump is, muscle to the left, neck and shoulder ar?
See a doctor: How long have you had it? You should have it looked at by a doctor, but the most common thing there is lipoma, which we leave alone if it doesn‘t bother you. However, we never truly know what it is unless we remove it and do a biopsy. If someone tells me it has been present for years, I just leave it alone.
Muscle lump?: You shouldn't have a lump in your muscle. Perhaps you should see an ENT doc to make sure there is no problem there.
Can you get a muscle knot (lump) in your neck from intense workouts? If so, How long until it goes away?
I have a lump on my left back shoulder that seems to be related to the muscle. It hurts when I turn my neck right in the lump area.
Get it evaluated: There are several possibilities. It may be a separate issue or it could related to a rotator cuff problem. I would see an orthopedist.
I have a lump in the back of my neck for years that will not go away. It is firm and it feels like its fixed to my muscle. Three weeks ago I had xrays?
Neck lump: It could be a cyst or a lipoma. Good news is, most things that are there for many years and don't cause problem in that time usually don't ever cause problems. But it's good to get it checked out. Other than xray, your doctor might suggest further imaging (MRI) and/or a biopsy to know for sure.

Small 1 CM lump where neck meets shoulder, firat noticed over a month ago. Painless, underskin down toward the muscle. Is 14 years old.
See your doctor: This could represent a swollen lymph node if it's closer to the neck. However, given that it's 1 cm and persists, this should be evaluated in person by a doctor. It might require x-ray imaging or even biopsy to ensure that it's benign and not representative of some kind of malignancy. Don't panic, just be cautious and have it evaluated soon.

I've had a pretty hard lump on my neck for as long as I can remember, only on the right side. It almost feels attached to muscle. Should I be worried?
Have it checked: It is always a good idea to have a unilateral (on one side) area that is different from the other side examined to be sure that there are no issues present. Without it being examined by a physician there is no way to know if it is typical or not. Please have your doctor look at it to help determine how next to take care of it, if needed.

On the muscle of my neck on lefted hand side I got a lump pop out of my muscle it hard been there for 4days now what could it be
Uncertain: The description of where this lump is, is not specific enough to be sure. Is it on the side, front or back? It could be a lymph node that is enlarged due to infection, but if it is really from the muscle, and your neck is stiff or sore, then some heat and massage, stretching etc should help to clear the 'knot'. If more appear & continue see your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
