Lump On Mastoid Bone Behind Ear
Small, soft to touch pea sized lump on mastoid bone behind ear, been present for a couple of years now, mobile and painless. Anything to worry about?
Lymph node: Probably nothing of concern. The differential diagnosis generally would be a reactive lymph node versus an epidermal inclusion cyst. This could be removed to be sure however with growth or changes. An Otolaryngologist would be able to determine this readily on physical exam.

The bone behind my left ear is swollen and very painful like a burning sensation. Have a lump where ear meets jaw. Could this be a mastoid bone infect?
Unlikely: It is impossible to have a mastoid infection without a middle ear infection. The tendons of the large neck muscles attach on the mastoid bone and you could have either a tendonitis or myositis. The lump where the ear meets the jaw could be the parotid gland tail. See an ENT doctor for a specific diagnosis.

Rock hard, pea sized non tender non movable bump over mastoid bone behind left ear. Been there for 3 months does not change in size? Concern?
Follow: Likely a safe lymph node or if non mobile a small bone. It is tiny and non mobile and does not change. A US may be able to define it further but I'd doesn't sound bad. All the best.
Daughter just found bony bump behind ear. Hard smaller then a bb. Pcp says no lymph nodes thinks cartilage. Bone spur? No xrays done. I'm worried??
Not sure: Since it is smaller than a BB it is probably nothing to worry about. X rays are not likely to show much in this area. Just keep an eye on it and if it should start getting larger, then ask again for an evaluation. Meanwhile, ask her not to rub or mess with it (or you either!) Just check once a week or so.
