Needs to be checked: You have a palpable lump in lower left abdomen. From what you describe it can be anything. It may be in the abdominal wall or intra abdominal. You need to be evaluated with detailed history as to any other symptoms, history of any trauma etc and a physical exam, and if indicated on exam may need blood/urine test and imaging like ultrasound or cat scan. ...Read more

The color: Of the stool is dependent upon what you eat and the WATER content of the stool at various PORTIONS of your gut! The stool at the very end is darker because its DRYER. The sigmoid colon filled with DRY stool can often be felt in the left lower quadrant as a sausage shaped "mass"...Hope this helps!
BTW sounds like you are a bit constipated TRY INCREASING YOUR WATER INTAKE!
