The more common : Thing in your age range is a small retinacular cust or ganglion, a fluid filled sac that comes off the joint or tendon sheath and if it is it is harmless except for the mechanical discomfort it causes. Many of these go away on their own but sometimes treatment for the larger ones can be successful with inejction/aspirtation. Surgery can also remove these. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Painful lump near the base of my skull on the left side. About half an inch in diameter. Very sensitive to the touch. Very worried.
Be calm: No reason to lose your cool or get terribly worried. Most of these types of things turn out to be nuisances and that's all. You will need a doctor to look at the lump and squeeze it a bit. Depending on how big it is he may want to take a small bit of tissue and send it to the lab for analysis. Raised artery/vein on anterior side of right wrist below thumb. Structure is fully visible and so are the contractions. Non visible on left wrist.
Veins are visible...: ...on many parts of the body; many are near the joints. If you see pulsations, it's probably not from the vein itself but from the artery underneath it. Healthy, muscular men with sparse body fat % have particularly noticeable veins. Swelling, pain, tenderness & redness of a vein may indicate superficial thrombophlebitis, a condition for which I recommend medical attention. ...Read more
I have a small pea size lump on my left collar bone, it moves & is painful also large lump on left wrist both appeared at same time. What are these?
Ganglion cysts: Most likely they are ganglion cysts. It is pretty common to get one at your wrist. As far as collar bone goes, it depends on where it is located. If it is more towards your shoulder at the ac joint then it is more likely to be a small ganglion. Because the rest of the collarbone does not have any joints in it, it would be more rare for it to come up there. I would have it checked out by ortho. ...Read more

Hand feels full and tight. Wrist and outer aspect of forearm very painful. No tingling. X-ray normal. Two weeks of this so far. What could it be?
Not sure about poppy: Liz, every person's hand veins become more prominent with age. Normal veins feel "squishy". They easily move away when you push them. It's normal and not dangerous. Arthritis is also common with age and the most common cause of pain in hands. However, if you have hurt your hand or burst a vein you could have bruise-like pain. Apply warm compresses and it will probably get better. Good luck ...Read more
