Post Op Concerns: The belly button or (umbilicus) is where the camera port was placed for your sons surgery. Once this port is removed some tenderness and swelling can occur. Redness, warmth, fever, pus, nausea are all reasons to call your sons surgeon right away. If the swelling doesn't go down, make sure the surgeon examines it at the follow up appointment. Humph,: Any fever, shortness of breath? Does it hurt to take a deep breath? Does the pain radiate anywhere? Or has it moved? It could be a whole host of things. If the answer to all of these things are no than the most likely thing is probably a bad case of gastritis with an unusual presentation. If so trying zantac (ranitidine) at 300mg and maalox might help. If it continues try again to seek help. ...Read more

Abdominal lump: If the lump above your belly button now appears gone to you, and a physical exam and an ultrasound of that area are now negative, it is unlikely that anything serious is going on there.
