Sounds like fat cyst: Sometimes sweat gland can grow inwards producing a cyst. If this bothers U, can be removed. The cyst has capsule around it which also needs removed and leaves indentation which dissapears slowly. If it begins to smell or leak U can have removed w insur claiming infected, Otherwise ins may not pay. Also they can recur. Show primary MD & seek derm to examine. It sounds like: Somelike some type of cyst, maybe a sebaceous cyst but to be there so long without a secretion is difficult to say. Did u ever fracture the rib? Could it be repair of the bone from a fracture? ...Read more

Lump: I cannot be sure since I cannot examine it, but I strongly suggest that you bring this to the attention of your Primary doctor.
