Lump in throat feeling on and off. After laying down I get what feels like painful throat spasms. Have reflux at times, Post nasal drip is bad and FM.

Lump in throat: No. Food in the trachea would cause immediate, severe coughing. Far more dramatic than a lump in the throat. You are mauch more likely to have some issue with you esophagus/stomach. Eat slowly, try some pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) for discomfort. See you primary care doc for an evaluation. Yes: A cough is likely a part of an upper respiratory tract infection, probably viral in nature. If the lump is inside your throat this could also be a strep tonsil infection. That's perfectly reasonable. You should be tried on anti-reflux meds and possibly referred to ENT for laryngopharyngoscopy to eval for any mass or edema. ...Read more
Girlfriend suffering from lump in throat feeling. Was prescribed generic PROTONIX, (pantoprazole) but no changes after 4 days. What could the problem be?
Reflux possible: The sense of a lump is typically caused by something causing vocal cord swelling. A common cause is acid reflux coming up from the stomach which is why she was given the Protonix (pantoprazole). That may still work; can take more than 4 days.
