Lump in throat feeling and throat-burping; worse when I am hungry or due to lack of sleep. Any reason?

I'm sure there is...: ..a reason for your symptoms, but unfortunately, a 20-word post to doctors who know nothing about you will not get you a reason over the Internet. There is a disclaimer that applies to HealthTap activities, which is that the doctors on it don't diagnose or treat anybody. It sounds like something that an ORL or GI doc would see. Although with NHS I imagine you have to start with a GP. ...Read more

Globus: Your doctor knows more than the ultrasound tech. Disregard her lack of knowledge. Most likely, your doctor wanted to evaluate your thyroid for enlargement or nodules. Reflux: The lump I'm the throat feeling is most likely from reflux. Stay away from acidic foods and eat healthier and you should be ok. I have an odd sensation between my breasts/center of my chest. Almost as if there is something in there. Lump in throat also. Gas? Anxiety?

Could be either, or: Even reflux esophagitis. I suggest seeing your family physician to begin workup. Also if you have ongoing anxiety, psychotherapy is a powerful part of treatment -- as in not relying on the zoloft (sertraline) alone. What causes a momentary sensation of tightness from the collarbone up the neck up to ears followed by sensation of lump in throat? PCP says heart ok?

Look inward: It could be any number of things, but if there are no abnormal medical findings and I were a gambling man, I'd bet on anxiety. Next time, think back about what *immediately precedes* this sensation (whether an external event or internal thoughts and feelings) and see if you notice a connection. Try *psychotherapy* (talk therapy aimed at understanding and insight), not just behavior therapy. ...Read more
