Get evaluated: A new finding of a lump on your neck for over one month should be examined. If it is not a lymph node ("gland") it could be a cyst or related to your thyroid. It is somewhat less concerning if it has not increased in size but i would still get checked. Good luck! ...Read more

Lymph node: If the general practitioner or the otolaryngologist think that this is a lymph node, and it is FIRM and has been present for 3 months, I would recommend that you have it biopsied. What to do if I have found a suspicious lump on the side of my neck, any ideas what it could be?

What to do if I have found a suspicious lump on the side of my neck, any ideas what it could be?

Neck mass: Any neck mass warrants prompt, careful evaluation--and followup-- by a physician. While there are many bacterial and viral infections which can and do drain to neck lymph nodes, there is also a concern for noninfectious and more ominous medical conditions like lymphoma which if identified early are quite treatable. The best advice is to seek medical care rather than exploring what it 'could be'. ...Read more

Is there a chance I have lymphoma? I have a small moveable lump on the side of my neck. I am so anxious.

Probably cyst: Small movable lumps are more likely benign cysts and not lymphoma. However there is no way to tell this without exam. Please see your doctor and have them check it and check for other possibly enlarged lymph nodes. The doctor may want to do some testing. If they think it is other than a benign cyst they may want to do a biopsy. Do not worry but please see doctor for exam. ...Read more
