Neck lump: Hello~ it depends where the lump is and how big is it. If its on either side of the windpipe, its probably the thyoid. If is under the jaw, its probably a lymph or salivary gland. In far lateral neck probably a small sebaceous cyst. The only way to be certain is to let your doc check it. Thanks ...Read more

Yes: A bone marrow biopsy is needed due to the presence of neutropenia if it is otherwise unexplained. In addition, the presence of the lump in the neck is worrisome and should be, if needed, biopsied. If the neck node is + for lymphoma a bone marrow would be required to see if there is lymphoma in the bone marrow. Hope this helps and good luck. ...Read more

Can a small lump in neck that's moveable considered lynphoma? Does size indicate if it's lynphoma? I've been losing weight
Not necessarily: Lymph nodes are everywhere in your body and act as filters help your immune system function properly. They can filter foreign particles such drainage from allergies, infection or cancer cells. They can become inflamed or enlarged. An enlarged node's size doesn't tell whether it is more likely or not to be cancerous. Further tests such as a CT or biopsy. Neck lump poss thyroid nodule. Appt needed ...Read more
I had FBC done after finding a lump in neck. Results came back "satisfactory" and nothing else was said. Still waiting on ultrasound. Is that good?
Yes it is!: There are many different causes for a neck lump. Taking an accurate history and performing a thorughly examination often brings forth the diagnosis. The FBC was probably performed to exclude a tumour of the blood such a lymphoma, and to see the result as 'satisfactory' is reassuring. The USS will help further with this diagnosis and don't be surprised if they say they want to a biopsy. ...Read more
