I have a lump beside my foot ankle what could it be?

Could be : Any one of a number things. But, it must be looked at by a doctor. It can be a benign lesion (non cancerous) like a ganglion, or possibly a malignant lesion. Most often, i will take a small 2mm-4mm punch biopsy for pathologic diagnosis. If there is fluid in the lump, this can be aspirated (remove fluid thru needle) and sent for analysis. I have a lump on my foot. No pain and move able! Like a cyst. What is this? And what's the cure??

Let it play out.: Without a location, it is difficult to give details. However, if it is on the top of the foot, you appraisal of "cyst" makes sense. Size and pain usually determine the action to be taken. Watch and wait is certainly acceptable, but if things about the cyst change, then have it evaluated and excised. Occasionally, these "cysts" will spontaneously rupture only to later recur. ...Read more

I : I am not sure that I am visualizing this foot issue well. It sounds like there is some form of mass (unknown size) on sole of the foot that is painful and is causing the toes and foot to be swollen. I cannot diagose this. However, your description makes me wonder if this is an infection. Do not know if this is an acute or a chronic problem. If the mass is red, hot, tender, painful or draining that is sigificant. The surrounding swelling is of concern. If there is fever or red streaking that is even more concerning. If you have the above described symptoms, recommend that you go to the emergency room now. Regardless would see a podiatrist or your doctor to determine the cause. ...Read more

I've got a small lump on left foot on top.Is not painful. No swelling.?

A few things: It sounds like it could be a little bursa, ganglionic cyst, lipoma or if it is hard, a bone spur or prominence of bones at the top of the foot. Keep an eye on it. If it gets bigger, painful or shows sign of shoe irritation consider seeing a podiatrist. ...Read more
