Need re-exam: There are several causes and diagnosis for the "cyst" on the back of your neck. I would advise you to see your primary care physician to get a referral to a surgeon the excise the "cyst" and see what kind of a lesion it is composed of. The swollen lymph node & the "cyst" may be related and could be a more serious problem. ...Read more

May be neck muscle: If it is really behind the neck, it isn't likely to be a gland. The glands are mainly on the front side of the neck. One of the larger back of the neck muscles may be larger than the other side, or may be swollen from being over used.
