Biopsy is tissue removed by needle or cutting to remove part of a body part. It is usually a small amount of material that is processed by a pathologist. Most of the time it is stained and looked at through a microscope to arrive at a diagnosis. Special processes are done for some tissues or problems. The purpose is to tell what the problem is (diagnosis). ...Read more
22yrs old mammogram normal enlarged right axillary lymph node 7mm left axillary lymph node 3mm waiting biopsy results. Family history breast cancer?
Be patient: Even with a family history of breast cancer, it would be very rare for a 22 yo to have the disease. You only have about a 14-15% chance of developing breast cancer, unless there are multiple family members who have the disease. There are many reasons for lymph nodes to enlarge, many benign, so just wait for the results. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Usually yes: A needle biopsy may result in localized inflammation or a hematome (contained blood) in the area of the biopsy which may feel like a hard lump. If it becomes progressively worse or if you suspect an infection, you need to see your provider. Otherwise it should gradually subside over a course of 2-4 weeks. If it did not go away, you need to check back with your breast care provider to be checked. In addition make sure you get the report of the biopsy to see if there is any concerns abut the result. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Get follow-up: At the beginning of pregnancy, you should have a breast exam. If any lumps/bumps are found they can be imaged and less commonly, biopsied if there is concern. If the one that was biopsied was normal, i would recommend repeat imaging (likely ultrasound) in a couple of months of that lump and the other. Do your own exams also and if it is growing, be seen sooner. Usually these growths are benign. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I had a biopsy of a lump in my breast about 2wks ago and am having periods of pain in the breast. It is not constant but it is intense. Is this normal?
unlikely: Most probably , after breast biopsy patient has focal hemorrhage and small area of fat necrosis, as previous site of biopsy. Breast tissue predominantly fatty and does not reveal large blood vessels and ussually no hematomas after biopsy.
