Yes, & other things: Armpit (axilla) lump under the skin could be a clogged sweat gland; also could be a lymph node enlarged due to infection in area that it drains, such as any part of the upper extremity down to the fingernail; of course those nodes also drain the breast and chest wall in the area, which could be from infection or cancer. Could be......: Could be several things, but it's time to get it checked. A woman's arm pit has a lot of stuff in it: major blood vessels, nerves, lymph nodes, tendons, hair follicles, and breast tissue (yep, breast tissue). Lymphoma unlikely: Lymphomas are usually painless. Painful lump means some infection and you should talk to primary care doctor (pcp) and examined in pcp office. If needed, dermatology referral. Lymphadenopathy: The doctor examining you is in the best position to make these decisions. Lymph nodes enlarge when they are doing what they are there for, fighting inflammation, and have some characteristics that can only be assessed by examining them.
