I'm 7 mos post (2nd) midfoot fusion, bone graph just started fusing. Suddenly have hard, very painful area at incision site on inner foot. Any ideas?
Varies: there are many potential causes, i would certainly let your surgeon know. If this is the second surgery, presumably first surgery was not successful; and possibly this one may not be healing either, or it may be as simple as that you have broken up some of the scar tissue that may have developed form your surgery and probable prolonged immobilization. Discuss with your surgeon, CT may tell more. ...Read more

Umbilical & supra umbilical hernia repair 21/2 weeks ago.A hard knot size of a ball point pen came up and is very painful.Normal? No fever, swelling
Should be looked at: Dear jenni, the most concerning cause for a bulge at the site of a hernia repair is a recurrent hernia. This would create a bulge at the same site that is painful and increases with straining. A smaller "knot, " such as you're describing, could be fibrous scar tissue, suture, or mesh. Severe pain 2 1/2 weeks after surgery is rare, so you should definitely have it looked at promptly. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
