Possibly: There is nothing about a laminectomy that should precipitate facet pain/arthritis. But patietns with spinal stenosis who require laminectomy often have multiple back issues including facet arthritis. There could be scarring after surgery causing some pain but typically you would have some leg pain as well. If Steroid: Was gonna be used for the injection, your blood pressure becomes an issue. Steroid medication can raise your blood pressure, so if its too high already than you may be at risk for a stroke due to raising the blood pressure even more. Generally Good: Radiofrequency procedures work well if a previous facet injection or medial branch block was performed with greater than 75-80% relief that was obtained. Varies: The results vary tremendously and proper patient selection is critical. To be a good candidate, you would have to have had complete relief in your pain from a facet injection, indicating the pain is indeed coming from the facet. It is a fairly safe procedure.
