What are the symptoms of an abdominal tumor under rib ?

Tumor Sxs: Symptoms (Sxs) of an abdominal tumor are usually absent unless the tumor grows greatly in size. An abdominal tumor in the upper abdomen and deep to a rib would be unusual unless the patient had bulky disease (for example due to a primary liver tumor) . A key issue here is the physical exam and if any question then imaging (radiology) studies to rule out the presence of a tumor. ...Read more

Neoplasms (Definition)

"tumor" literally translates as "mass", so even a fresh bruise could be called a "tumor". Doctors use the term "neoplasm" (tranlates literally as new growth) to describe tumors that are abnormal growths of cells. These may be benign or malignant; "malignant" = cancer. In everyday usage, we use "tumor" ...Read more

I have double normal cortisol blood level, have burning pain under my ribs and on left side near umbilicus. Could these symptoms be of adrenal tumor?

I have double normal cortisol blood level, have burning pain under my ribs and on left side near umbilicus. Could these symptoms be of adrenal tumor?

Unlikely: Blood cortisol varies considerably throughout the day, so a single value does not mean much. A cortisol-producing adrenal tumor is rare. Pain from an adrenal tumor would more likely cause back pain, if it caused pain at all. See your doctor, but this is unlikely to be an adrenal tumor. ...Read more

I'm 42 non smoker have had chest discomfort. If your having symptoms of lung cancer would the tumor be big enough to be seen on a xray?

The sensitivity: of a chest xray for detecting lung cancer ranges from about 40-80% according to various studies. A chest x-ray is not sufficient to rule out lung cancer, sometimes even larger tumors can be masked due to their location next to normal structures. If lung Ca is a realistic concern, Chest CT is the study of choice. ...Read more

I'm 42 non smoker have had chest discomfort. If your having symptoms of lung cancer would the tumor be big enough to be seen on a xray? I did have a c

Possibly: But small tumors can produce symptoms, and large tumors can sometimes be difficult to see on a chest xray, so a chest X-ray is not sufficient to exclude lung cancer. CT of the chest is much more sensitive. ...Read more

Is chest pain a common symptom of lung cancer if cancer is causing pain how big would a tumor have to be and what is the likelihood of showing on xray?

Is chest pain a common symptom of lung cancer if cancer is causing pain how big would a tumor have to be and what is the likelihood of showing on xray?

Here is my guidance: Chest pain can be caused from many causes, lung cancer is not the first thing that should come to your mind. If the pain has been present for more than one week and your concern is cancer, a Chest X-ray will show it easily. But you should go see a doctor first in case your pain is persistent for >1 week.. ...Read more

I have a weird feeling on my right side of my rib. I am not sure what it could be. An air bubble or a tumor. Feeling behind the rib.

I have a weird feeling on my right side of my rib. I am not sure what it could be. An air bubble or a tumor. Feeling behind the rib.

Unlikely serious: Given your young age, assuming no recent trauma, I doubt that this is anything serious; certainly not an air bubble or cancerous tumor. It is possible you developed some focal irritation of the intercostal muscles between the ribs. Depending on the location, you might have developed floating rib syndrome. Try rest and ibuprofen or naproxen. See a clinician if your symptoms persist or worsen. ...Read more

I have a hard bump on my rib cage i dont know if its a tumor because i have been having that bump seens i can remember but lately its been hurting?

More info: Is it as hard as the bone? does it move above the bone or is it fixed to the rib? how long has it been there? There is more info that is needed. You should have an MD take a look. Most things that you would feel would be benign (NOT cancer) but it is hard to know without a biopsy. ...Read more

Yes: If it is large enough and located in a site that would ordinary produce the pain. It can stretch the liver capsule which is quite sensitive.
