I wish I knew if: ...you're currently pregnant, but, I'll assume you aren't. Otherwise, I'd say, it's a sign of a healthy, active fetus & NOTHING to worry about. Even so, I doubt it's anything serious since it comes & goes, is positional and there aren't other symptoms. I have a very hard knot on lower right rib on my back side that's been there 20 plus years. Now have some periodic uncomfortable swelling around it.

Important: Any change in a swelling that has been there for a long time is always of concern. You need to see a physician quickly who may have to additional tests like ct or MRI followed by a biopsy. Could be . . .: Bronchitis could last for a while usually with these symptoms. However it could also be an allergy problem with post nasal drip and frequent throat clearing. The rib pain could be because you are coughing so frequently that your rib muscles are in spasm. You should see a physician to be diagnosed properly. ...Read more
