Low back pain and leg tingling at gym?

See a Doc: The first thing to do is to try to determine what activity brought about these symptoms. You really need to think hard about this. If you can identify what brought it about, then it may be helpful to speak to a personal trainer to see if you are using poor technique or if there is an activity that you are "overdoing". If the symptoms persist, probably best to see your doc or a back specialist. ...Read more

Had lower back pain x 1 wk. Also in buttocks. Better now but not gone.. Now have tingling down one leg. Should it improve since back is improving

It may improve...: Most cases of back pain will improve, especially with conservative therapies. However, the tingling down the leg indicates a nerve issue, the severity of which can only be determined with diagnostic testing such as MRI and/or EMG (best done 8 wks after symptom onset). It is possible to have isolated numbness/tingling of the leg without accompanied back pain. ...Read more

Several options for : you include seeing your own doctor as most back issues will resolve within in several weeks but treatment can be given to help or you can then be referred out to a neurologist, physiatrist or a neurosurgeon or orthopedic spine surgeon if not improving with treatment such as medication, activity modification & physical therapy. Consider: Although could be very benign, such as strain/sprain; the description suggests a potential nerve compression in lower back, such as might be seen secondary to disc disruption. Would have your doctor evaluate this, and would place exercise currently on hold as potential for worsening if your work out injured you. ...Read more

Good idea to see Dr: Pain in the lumbar spine (lower back) associated with bilateral (both) lower extremity paresthesia ("tingling") are commonly related. At the same time, the tingling could be from an unrelated process. See your doctor for a physical and mention what you've been experiencing. ...Read more

Be seen: You may have a "pinched nerve" in your back. Look out for weakness in the leg and foot as well as bowel or bladder control issues as these may be signs of a severe nerve injury. A doctor can examine you and gauge the severity of your issue and devise a plan for your evaluation and treatment. ...Read more

Related or unrelated: Low back pain associated with leg pain is common , often associated with nerve compression in the lumbar spine. Calf swelling, if related, is usually related to reduced leg mobility. Numbness in hands as well as legs would not be caused only by nerve compression in your lower spine--so do you have two diseases or only one? See a neurologist. ...Read more

I've lower back pain which is now raidiating down my right leg to toes (tingly). X-ray & bloods clear doc thinks bulging disc . What's the tingling?

Nerve irritation: In this case, one of your nerve roots is likely irritated by the bulging disc. The disc may have a tear and release chemical signals that will irritate a nearby nerve root, or even intermittently make contact and compress the root. The resultant stray signals from the root is the tingling. No need to see doctor unless tingling gets painful or leg becomes weak/numb & interferes with function. ...Read more

Symptoms of bowelmovements of only mucus and jelly fish like things. leg arm feet numbness and tingling. upper and lower back pain. wbc of 14.8?

This requires eval: Your symptoms and signs (white count of 14,800) are numerous and only an in-person evaluation/examination can adequately assess them. I might think of some form of infectious colitis with your mucus BM's and elevated WBC count; the numbness/tingling and pain could be something entirely different. I believe the best advice is go to ER (or your doc's office if you can get in today!) Good wishes:) ...Read more
