Aquatic exercise: Swim, water aerobics or walking in chest deep water. We are about 80% lighter standing in chest deep water due to buoyancy. This will make exercising easier. Start with an amount that is relatively easy and comfortable, then repeat 4 or more days per week and add a few minutes to the program once a week, initially only add 2-3 mins per week, so you don't over do it. Don't give up and keep moving. ...Read more
Severe lower back pain and tightening that relieves after walking but resumes after sitting or lying down for a few minutes or more.
Muscle Spasm: Pain with sitting typically stresses the disk in the lumbar spine (lower back). This is often relieved with standing or sitting as there is less pressure on the disk in these positions. Younger patients will often have only back symptoms without sciatica if they have a disc herniation. If your pain is truly severe and not getting better, that deserves an evaluation by a spine or pain specialist. ...Read more
